your postulate doesn’t hold up at all. Every one of those things were new and ‘not old star wars’ at sometime too. This is still stuff being created by the minds behind star wars…. Even if it’s lame.
"Still stuff being created by the minds behind Star Wars"?

How? George Lucas and Gary Kurtz are long gone from the creative chair. George Lucas IS the mind behind Star Wars and Gary Kutz helped him realize his vison.

Say what you will about Lucas but he always understood exciting scenes and the Star Wars characters. He knew Star Tours should reflect the exciting action scenes and planets from each film.

This is a false statement.

Well, I'm just going on their own reservation calendar. March and April used to be booked, now they aren't.

And this summer is wide open.

And you haven't been following the thread.

July - September has never been really filled yet.

March through June has, at times, been mostly filled.

When the 90-day pay-in-full deadline first hit the beginning of March, then there were indeed a lot of openings popping up, as people backed out of their down-payment reservations. (The 90 day mark is now up to Mar 22, and people are most likely getting emails about their impending pay-in-full dates two weeks ahead of time.)

And so, from March through June, there are 61 cruise dates. Before the 90 day deadline hit, there were about 5 unfilled dates. (Keep in mind it only takes one room unreserved for the date to be open.) But once the 90 day deadline hit, the openings have been all over the place: 12, then 7, then 15, then 10, then 21, and now... 18.

This represents 6,100 room reservations. And there are at least 18 rooms available, maybe a handful more.

Yes, July - September has always had hardly any full dates, but we don't know how partially filled they are -- whether 5% filled or 95% filled -- we just don't know.

It IS amazing how Disney has steadfastly refused to link any old characters with this experience so far - outside of concept art. (We see Chewbacca in the concept art.)
Imagine how much more Star Wars this would feel if c-3po was shown as being on that ship?
Or yes, an alien band like we see in the cantina scene backed up the singer we see in the promo video?
Just something to tie things together.
It just seems like there's barely a common thread.
At least in GE there is a concerted effort to link everything.

Yes, the concept art and what has visually been presented in the form of teases / trailers have not matched up very well if at all.

It's possible that the real thing will have those elements.
If it does, you'd think marketing would be smart enough to at least give us a glimpse of it.
The fact that we haven't seen a hint of it, either means it's not there, or marketing is boneheaded.

The reservation policy is cleverly set up so the amount of money that can be recovered if a guest / guests decide to cancel steadily reduces to -0- as the date of the reservation approaches. Not an uncommon practice to ensure guests remain committed and retain the money. However, due to the self-inflicted wound and damage due to poor marketing, overzealous pricing and general disenchantment with Disney guests are stepping back and reconsidering the value of doing this experience. The adventurous soles that do participate in this experience during March 2022 will be very closely watched and listened to. No pressure.

I suspect it's a bit of both. The faction on here that is posting "Yeah. But it's new Star Wars. It's still being created." is missing the entire point. It's all well and good that they want to introduce "new" things. But "new" doesn't really square with the expectations nor the price point of what Disney has been hinting at for over two years.

Let's say you're a music fan. And you shell out a couple/few grand on a few prime seats, a VIP meet and greet, and maybe some exclusive merch for the AC/DC show coming to your area. You are going to that show to hear Back In Black. You are going there to hear You Shook Me. To hear Thunderstruck. In short you are going there to hear the staples in their catalog. You're not shelling out that cash and making an emotional commitment so that you can hear a rare b-side that was released on the limited edition Japanese disc or a new song that they have been working on. Even though it is AC/DC.

Excellent analogy.
Yes, that's the continuity I speak of.
And just as you'd want to hear the old songs from that classic band, and not the entirety of their new album - you'll also want some key members of the original band in the lineup.
You can see Foreigner with zero original members, but is it Foreigner?
Or you could see Journey with maybe two original members and a singer who does a good Steve Perry impression - maybe there's continuity there?
At least in the case of bands, they usually try to pretend they're the same band.

Disney put the pressure on themselves. All they need to do is deliver. And maybe they will. I hope they do.

But more importantly I hope Disney has the vision to change things up and recognize what is working vs what is not. And not adopt a "This is what it is - take it or leave it" mindset. There are going to be "good" reviews. There are going to be "not so good" reviews. For the "not so good" ones - does Disney take a defensive posture and dig their heels in, or do they listen and tweak things?

At the end of the day, this is an immersive and interactive experience. And while it is an experience it is also a show. The hotel is the set. Nobody knows what the end game is. Maybe Disney has plans on how they are going to evolve this to become a once a year type experience for families. If they approached this as one shot deal type of thing IMO they made a mistake. They can easily create an environment that would be very conducive to repeat visits - if they listen to what their guests have to say.

Come on, Mister Penguin, you seem to be painting la vie a bit rosier than it is. A lot of choreography here to normalize the fact that people are not booking. Disney should be thrilled. I mean, terrified.

"All right folks, bad guys won.. so I'm going to ask you all to make an effort and look deader when you visit Star Wars Land tomorrow!" :hilarious: :hilarious:
I did an interactive play (40 guests at a time split into four groups: rebels, workers, bosses and elite) in which my group was to try and start a revolt. Guest actions determined what would happen next.

We sucked. The bad guys won on our night LOL

Oh no--what did the Rebel Alliance do wrong?

They just have to re-skin The Rock-A-Fire Explosion as an alien band. I heard they were working on an alien band too! For that matter, Sonny Eclipse could entertain in more intimate settings too.

Seriously, why doesn't that bridge have at least some AA aliens in it? C3PO would be a perfect fit; he's already piloting regular trips to Endor. And, he has successfully shielded a rebel spy as well.

A weak offering when the simple addition of an Alien Band for entertainment would make a really big improvement to the experience.

Imagine what a difference anything of the sort would make if Disney used such things in advertising this experience?
I won't be doing this, it's prohibitively expensive - and from what I have seen my soon to be 20 year old son's wouldn't be interested in it.
But, I'm thinking back to when they were anywhere fro 6 - 12 years old, were heavily into Star Wars and we were making annual WDW trips....
If they were in that age group now, and I wanted to do this experience with them - what would I show them to get them excited about it, and how would they react?
The concept art would work ok, but certainly not the promo video.
What else would there be for me to show them?
It seems like such a mistake on the promo end.

I've not defended the cost of the event, lest anyone think I'm 100% pro-Disney on this.

Just pointing out the facts.

And the more ridiculous criticisms bases on meritless assumptions. "I've never experienced and LARP, but I'll tell you why this won't work!!!"

The haters are tripping over themselves making stuff up to score points against Disney and/or Star Wars.

All you have to do is focus on the cost to score points.

I’m just looking at bookings. That’s the only line that’s making me nervous. Why do I want this to succeed? Because the last thing we need is to make up the difference somewhere else.

I don’t want to “score points against Disney and/or Star Wars”. I just want people to book a ridiculously expensive LARPage and show me that my fears have been unfounded. I just referenced cost… does that cancel out my response?
