So who is the target audience? Is it the typical Disney family is saves for a Disney holiday for years or ones that make the yearly trip? Is it a side trip like a cruise? Is it for star war fans who will only go for the experience?

I’d say all of the above, plus more. I don’t fit in any of those categories, really. We are fans, but not fanatics.. at least not now, I think my kid has grown out of his SW obsession (compared to what it was a couple of years ago).

If it’s the same as the cruise is for an entire week but only 2 nights, that will be a very difficult sell for my wife...
Hopefully it’s priced more like a cruise per night...
I wonder if food is included?
Not even close...cruises are like $200-300 pp a night. That’s light here by about a factor of 3
my kid and I are huge Star Wars fans.. he is waiting for this to open. However, I will not go if the room exceeds $2k for the stay.
I’d say come up with plan B

The target is the gen x/y rabid Star Wars fanbase that I’m not sure still exists...

It’s not for one timers...it’s not for dvcers...not for locals.

Strong pull to Western Europe, perhaps.

It’s hoping that there are no limits to how far disney fans will go.

What is the highest rated hotel room on property? Let's say it's $1000. That doesn't include anything. So if it is inclusive in some capacity, for example access or unlimited access to the land may be the only main inclusive, you're easily looking at 1500 or more. But I think it's sold as a 2 night so it will likely start around 1500.

Poly theme park view is over $1k now, and that’s not even the most expensive room if we add club level at the monorail resorts.

If it was all inclusive then I would be a bit more flexible with my price ceiling. I’m not counting on an all inclusive stay, though.. but who knows. Maybe it will be.

I think the basic experiences will be inclusive (entertainment and qs food or buffet). From what I recall the sit down restaurant is reservation only or hotel guest only so that may have a surcharge similar to the cruises. The premium experiences will likely be paid. It will be interesting to see the price list.

The prices are outrageous. Most Murder Mystery weekend Bed and Breakfasts range from $200 to $300 per night. Still, I’m sure there will still be a set of people who fork up the cash anyway. I’m assuming that it is this demographic they are targeting here.

Exactly. Assuming it’s somewhat reasonably priced, she’d prob agree, but if it’s just stupid insanely expensive, nope.

For the wayback machine... people should remember when Disney was soliciting feedback from guests in their surveys... they basically set the stage by talking about what you paid for deluxe accommodations, tickets, and dining plans... and then tried to sell this as offering MORE unique stuff.

Given they went with the shorter 2day, 2 night format... there really isn't a ton of variations you can offer for staggering schedules. There simply isn't a big enough time window in the same trip.

I have to imagine guests will be on a A/B/C grouping kind of thing for people on their schedule.. and maybe at most you'll have different boarding groups overlapping by 1 group. My money is still on everyone arriving on time schedules on the same day and everyone leaving on the same day... with sub-groups for scheduling within your trip. Just like cruises have the early dinner, late dinner group, etc.

It will be interesting to see - even putting the cost issue aside, the more “all in” they make the experience (have to dress up, interact, role play, etc) the more you are really limiting the audience. I could convince my wife to stay in a generally themed Star Wars luxury hotel (once), but once you get into dress up and role play there is no way she’d do it.

Over the last 2 years, the highest-rated hotel on property (from our readers) is the Villas at Grand Floridian, followed by Grand Floridian.

99% sure the SWGS is going to be priced per person, double occupancy.

I'm guessing between $1,900 and $3,200. To keep the cruise analogy going, that's the range between a verandah stateroom and the cheapest concierge for 2 adults on a 2-night out of San Diego on the Wonder this year. The hotel is going to have much less capacity and similar competition.

The latest video didn't talk at all about the gameplay (other than that one training example that we all knew about). I wonder if they're saving that for later, or they're backing off on it.

I thought this was supposed to be all inclusive since you aren’t leaving the resort for 2 days except for a mission to Batuu. Nothing says immersion like loading onto a Disney bus to get to your 6pm ADR at Chef Mickeys ;)

if this includes a room, meals and exclusive character interaction plus various entertainment I can’t image it’s less than $1k a night. Another question is will they make you buy a park ticket as well to do the mission on Batuu or will they “throw that in”.

You can eat at your own resort without taking a bus now, and it’s not included in the price of the room.

I don’t know if food would be included or not, but I don’t think it would be set up to take a bus to dine elsewhere.

Yea I think it's set up where you can't leave until the end of the experience.

The VIP tour can cost up to $750 per hour and does not include tickets. Unless the mission is an after hours thing that includes only a few things everyone does, then I could see that included. But not just getting into the park during normal open hours, no way I see that getting offered for free.
