I posted about this elsewhere, but this really is intended to be an addition to a vacation, you stay at a normal resort for most of trip, then add 2-3 days here for the 2 day or 3 day package experience. I wonder if it will be all inclusive so you would be using currency given in theme to exchange for food and such? I also assume you only have access to Galaxy's Edge during this time for specific missions and events outside the resort experience?

That is the most likely scenario.

Well, there goes my idea that the exterior would resemble a giant parked Star Destroyer repurposed for tourist use.

But this actually looks quite thoughtfully designed, nice.

Don’t assume this will be sold the same way as a hotel tho....

It’s possible that you control the buying experience and process in a way that funnels the buyer through checks and information so that you avoid or minimize the “i didn’t look at all that...” situation and someone just shows up.

Although people don't seem to agree with my assertion, I am standing by it. There will be people who expect this to be a normal resort and will be disappointed when it isn't.

I am sure the price will show them otherwise... and I also assume Disney will be providing plenty of trip planning advice/information beforehand to explain the experience and how it works. I also assume you could only book it for a few days, not a 2 week trip.

I kinda doubt it, actually. It’s clearly a different cruise-like experience from the get go. The target market will get it if they pay attention to marketing at all.
I remember some poster way back when freaking out about not being able to do his morning run and having access to a excercise room... It's a 2 day theme experience, you can hold off on exercise for that time.
Doesn’t a cruise ship also have a pool...and a place to exercise?

I don’t think Disney has ever offered something as rigid as what is being described here. The cruise analogy works when comparing the length of stay and lack of ability to leave, but a cruise ship offers a plethora of different types of activities and has something for everyone. This is a lot different. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, but very unique to Disney’s typical offerings. Despite having direct transport to the theme parks and a huge price premium as a result, Disney resorts still offer pools and gyms and shopping and other activities. These are ancillary services and while a lot of people feel it’s a waste to spend too much time on those activities when you are paying a huge premium to be so near the parks some people enjoy them. Everyone has different things they are into. This resort may be small enough to stay in business structured like this, but I wonder if they will have issues attracting return visitors who may want a little more variety.

This is not being geared towards people who want to the do usual thing tho (sit by the pool, spend time in the gym etc) You are being immersed in Star Wars throughout the stay and the final act will be arriving at Batuu, then after your 2 (possibly 3) days you will either be off to a resort proper for your Vacation or home if this was the ending of a Disney Vacation.

Eesh. Not that aspect of a cruise.

Do you REALLY think most people paying through the nose for a UNIQUE SW experience — very limited in time — are going to be expecting to hang out at a pool? Does that not seem like a waste of time?

People "waste" time and money on stupider things at WDW.

Looks like complimentary valet parking.

And people don't expect pools on cruises?

K, let's change the paradigm: A three-day, two night wilderness trail. Once you sign up, you're pretty much committed to staying with the hikers. No stopping off at a McDonald's.

I'm so excited for this hotel. Our next WDW trip is for the 50th in 2021 and hopefully it will be open by then. Today I've started our savings pot for the trip and already chucked in $100 just for the Star Wars hotel. While to go yet though

If your assertion is "there are stupid people in the world" - yes, that's always true. Are there people that no matter what, are unprepared for something? Yes... ultimately there will always be some. But you don't define something by the edge cases. If 1 out of 500 fall into this trap... well you call it for what it is.. an outlier and you deal with it on an individual basis.... not turn your ship endlessly to try to catch every last fish.

Which... was exactly what this thing was pitched as doing too. Maybe the thing you like to do isn't there, but there should be plenty of options to satisfy all ages. Remember.. it's a limited time, not an interment.

I personally think that this will start off as a very controlled and immersive experience, but will very quickly start to be dumbed down and made more like a normal resort. I know this is not a popular opinion, but I truly believe it will happen.
