What's funny, is the site that reported Obi-Wan was in trouble, was a spoof site. But I guess with the leadership we have with star wars at the moment. You can report that any star wars project is in trouble and you have a 80% chance of being right.
Every outlet reporting it...so I think it’s not a spoof or we’ll need tons of eggs.

You know what’s not delayed and I just watched?..a at least the first 3 episodes are getting great reviews:

The greatest Starfleet captain ever.
Wow. There are good writers still out there...they just don’t work in the presidio

Funnily enough, nobody’s opinion matters that much. Your’s doesn’t. Mine doesn’t. I still value mine much higher than your’s, like almost everybody else who have their own opinions

You like liking TLJ is an extremist opinion? Thats an absolutely nuts opinion, objectively.

And again, you are feeling the need to dictate what should be the opinion of a freaking Star Wars movie as if you are an expert on film and or the arbitrator of quality, when you very clearly are not.

I have, on several occasions, said it’s fine if you don’t like TLJ, because opinions are largely subjective. You don’t quite understand this concept from the opposing point of view, and it’s frankly insulting that you think your opinion is law above others. It reeks of delusion of grandeur, and it’s unearned given how close minded you are.
Yeah...now I’m gonna have to make you AND penguin my best friend...it will be fun.

My first piece of advice is that if you have to go, make sure the wind is at your back. Nobody wants backspray 😉

Then bow out of the discussion and stop trying to force everyone to have the same opinion as you with dozens of daily posts.

The only way to win Star Wars nuclear winter is not to play.
Even you can’t be dense to what happened. And I’ve seen you much more reasoned the “my opinion as a novice film critic” routine...which is what is going down here

It’s very sad.

You like charts...want me to give you the list of alltime agi Star Wars film rankings?...Bob iger ain’t gonna like it...

The lack of direction/mandate could be an advantage to some studios...more creative freedom than the modern studio movie/franchise system

But...but...do we trust LFL story group? Honestly as it stands.

We do know that they reshot/recut 3 of 5 Disney movies heavily...one worked, 2 did not.

A similar example can be drawn from animation...most that require heavy redos don’t fare well...
One turned out to be spectacular (50 points If you guess it?)

Time will tell
I judge things on their own merit. I don’t worry about whether I should like something based on behind the scenes drama of other projects.

If Kenobi was indeed becoming too similar to the babysitter aspect of The Mandalorian, then it is clearly a good idea to retool it.

The early money is on they have no cohesive story arc or conflict...

I wonder why that could be seen as a problem? 🤔

Just a hunch from a non-critic, non-Disney accountant perspective

See, this is you keep trying to change my opinion. My opinion is well considered enough for my tastes. I've heard your points... at least a hundred times. I'm unconvinced.

Give it up. Stop gatekeeping threads. Stop trying to mind control people. Let it go, Elsa.

I don’t determine the reality. I only observe it.

You might want to try the same...
Want that list now? It’s a fun chart.

People really aren't upset because some are critical of Ackbar. You can be as critical as you want to be. But he did have a 40yr plus history and was a cult classic character. And realistically, why was Holdo even needed. You had an established character, that most fans loved, who could have been the hero. And that would have been much more impactful to a lot more people. But that is the mess that we are in right now. Squabbling back and forth over things that should never been an issue in the first place. Ackbar is an extremely small part of most peoples issues with the sequels. But it's a symptom none the less.

If someone thinks Ackbar could have been better used as the hero, great, it's an opinion. If someone thinks it would have too obvious and pandering fan service, that's fine too.

My issue is with criticizing someone for allegedly not appreciating the "nuance" that is Admiral Ackbar, when we're all free to love him, hate him, and everything in between.

I wonder if the people who put characters like Ackbar on a pedestal along with Boba Fett and Darth Maul, are the same ones who didn't like the minor character of Captain Phasma.

You mean the one that was hyped as being a major character and then turned out to be a ridiculously minor character?

Darth Maul, Boba Fett, Ackbar, Jar Jar, 3rd Ewok from the left > Captain Phasma

The thing with Captain Phasma is that in her very first movie she was already kind of made into a joke with how quickly she surrendered and then in TLJ there wasn’t much of her again. You could say it’s a case of leaving a very good first impression for the other three you listed. I think at this point though anyone who still holds Boba in extremely high regard is a bit nostalgia driven now that we have Mando.

So those kids following him around Tomorrowland are harkening back to their even younger nostalgic period? Uh, OK.

In no way, shape, or form is Jar Jar Binks a superior character to Captain Phasma.

Phasma was a hype-driven character pushed by Abrams in interviews, but neither film she was in had any interest in developing her. And that’s fine, but Abrams is the reason anyone even wanted her to be a character.
