Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker Reactions: SPOILERS

Complain? I was making a little joke about you saying it was a mask...

I could tell because he wasn’t as stiff as the masks would be. He did look good though.

I'm just saying that some people, not directed at you, will complain about anything, whether it be Ackbar not being in Rogue One or objecting to use of CGI over practical.

Only real Star Wars fans appreciate the nuance that is Admiral Ackbar!

The guy with a fish head, whose race is actually called Calamari (ugh), and has that one line.

I really have nothing against the character, but the elevation of him into this sort of iconic status is overblown.

Just say: “I don’t get it”

...it’s better that way.

Let me clarify: the APPEAL of that character is very nuanced.

He wasn’t a “big deal”...but is very much an iconic, smile producing part of the OT to - I would submit - most fans.

Another? Boba fett
A prequel one? Darth maul

Characters much more ingrained/recognized than their screen time would warrant...if you understand it.

But it’s clear what happened with this one...and it leads back to bad understanding/management of the IP

Sequels I guess it would be... Babu Frik?

Darth Maul, in the prequels, isn’t a fleshed character. He’s a Halloween mask.

But...for some reason resonated. And that’s why they keep bringing him back from the dead and he pushes product.

I thought he was stupid...but made a return in a long popular cartoon series AND a movie...such that it was.

If you go all the way back...akbar was nothing. But he has shown up every chance possible since.

Until they offed him to make an unnecessary plot tangent

Wait, so if something resonated with people in a past film, it’s fine to bring it back, but something resonates with people in a new film, it’s people defending the Lucasfilm/Disney honor? There are some logical inconsistencies here.

"Some" is an understatement.

It's fascinating that people who complain about Admiral Holdo's outfit don't comprehend that some people can also be a bit critical of the Ackbar character.

If you two are attempting to make the argument - and I know tony is - that “some” love the last Jedi...

Then let’s see it? As in let’s see it grow...let’s see it expand interest...develop a cult following...sell some swag.

That’s what bits like boba and maul...and yes - Akbar have done.

Then i Would re-evaluate. But I’ll bet you two pigs and a goat it isn’t gonna happen. This “trilogy” is already in the HOV lanes to Hollywood irrelevancy.

Disney main opportunity now is to admit defeat and start over...not whine that the fans are stupid, wrong, don’t understand and try to cash in on money they recently spent.

We saw this with the prequels...who most consider crappy 20 years later. Nothing different is coming from the DT

Your inconsistent arguments aside, once again, please stop taking on the role of franchise gatekeeper. You haven’t earned the luxury of lecturing us on the proper take on Star Wars.

You’re lack of any tangible stance other than “last Jedi was great” aside, do your thing and flex your internet muscles at will...i however will not be entertained by it.

Everyone has their right to be loud and wrong in 99% of the cases

I’ve actually made my points very well known, and in a lot more detail than simply “TLJ was great”. I would suggest you go back and brush up on those posts before you disingenuously brush off the contents of my postings.

But how else will we know which movies we are, and aren't, allowed to like as Star Wars fans?! /s

I actually like every single Star Wars film to varying degrees. Apparently that makes me less of a fan in some people's eyes, than people who don't like several of the films.

It makes zero sense, but people are weird.

More importantly, how else are we to know which criticisms are valid and which ones are politically driven? I completely missed the memo where gripes with ROTJ are only in response the prequels and weren’t valid until 1999.

I hate the prequels, and I think each film in the sequel trilogy is objectively better-made films than all the films in the prequel trilogy, but whatever, to each their own. But imagine having to continually justify my personal opinion because someone has a hate hard-on for TLJ.

You believe that rian Johnson made a good Star Wars movie...

The downward trajectories of money, interest, and Disney interest in making more Star Wars feature Films...as well as the upward trajectory of dissension and complaining across the media would all beg to differ with your assessment.

Don’t hate the messenger...err...I mean...”gatekeeper”

Pssst...

I’m right here! 🧐

I’ll remind you that patronizing means you have no actual counterpoints. As always with the fail on Disney forums.
