1. The Last Jedi
2. The Force Awakens

Massive gap.

3. The Rise of Skywalker
4. Rogue One
5. Solo

I don’t understand the love for Rogue One. It has far and away the most forgettable collection of characters and is really a great 45 minute film stuck in a 2 hour film.

All the main characters gracefully die and don't stick around to after their siblings, slaughter random children, gather random brain damaged followers, or go into politics.

Forced plot points aside...

It felt like a Star Wars...the action...and most especially the production design/feel. The yavin and jedha sets were gritty that you could have envisioned them being shot by people wearing Levi’s and ringer tees in the early 80’s. And that is what good nostalgia is...

Hell - I’ve said it before: the admiral raddus stuff was By far their only good use of nostalgia.

“Rogue one: may the force be with you...”

Hell, I didn’t even hate the cgi Cushing and Fisher...it wasn’t perfect but it was an attempt to use technology to your advantage at least.

What has abrams - who has proved to me he doesn’t get Star Wars - done? Corny repeat lines and jokes?

Star Wars amused...but it was never a comedy. The grins had to be organic...not punchlines.

Oh my the attempts at humor in this movie fell so flat in my theater. Only C3PO ever got laughs and even then it was just a few people.
More observations. The IMAX theater I viewed was less than half full. At the end of the movie one person clapped once. The rest either sat in stunned silence or high tailed it out of theater.
I really don’t understand how this was allowed to happen. They really needed to delay this movie as long as needed to get a decent story for it. It really feels rushed.

This is the common “positive” review I keep see all over the place...Flynn did one Earlier...

Sorry, this isn’t personal to you, JJ21, it’s just an illustration of the phenomena I experienced myself in 2015...I think?

It’s “ I like it” at first...then 48 hours later it really begins to gnaw. Then we get bogged down insulting/defending it.

There’s 7...to this day people say they “loved it” or it’s a “great movie”....but when asked why? Nothing really stands out.

It’s more a “force ghost” of a good movie...you want to love it, but there’s nothing to embrace
I'm definitely giving it some more thought. And I'll continue thinking about it for the next few days. But this is the first time leaving the theater from a sequel trilogy movie where I didn't feel disappointment. I left Force Awakens and Last Jedi wanting to like them but I just knew I didn't. This one was different.

The movie, without question, has flaws. They should've shaved about 15-20 minutes off the first half, and Palpatine definitely felt rushed. They should've planned this trilogy start to end from the beginning and not given Rian Johnson so much freedom to leave his mark. But at the present moment, it feels like a solid effort to me.

I know what you mean though. I left The Last Jedi disappointed, but over time I grew to especially hate that movie, far more than I did when I initially left the theater.

Their outcomes have nothing to do with their characterizations.
The worst part was that the rebellion would “follow” Jyn...that was bad. Her daddy issues as well.

But felicity jones is still a better actor than Ridley...so you can at least get through it.

The Cassian andor character was fine...apparently Disney thinks so too.

Honestly...the script was choppy but I don’t think any of them were that bad.

Forrest Whitaker maybe

Maybe we can all agree that K2SO was the real star of the movie.

Additionally, how tone deaf is JJ Abrams, during Leia’s death scene, to not have Billie Lourd prominently in the shot?

That may have been for Billie’s comfort level. I imagine just doing this film was challenging enough while still mourning the loss of her mother.

Our theater was very quiet. It was uncomfortable.

I’ve read several anecdotes of people seeing others outside of the theater crying because they were so disappointed.

The ‘memberberries’ phenomenon seems to be a problem everyone shares in one way or another. The sheer fact that all people want is the OT is actually more gravely sending them the wrong messaging.

People want the OT because it's what they remember as GOOD, while the new has NOT been. No one is running around going 'man, the mandalorian would be so much better if it was bobba fett...'. People are hating on the new characters because they didn't work for them..
