Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker Reactions: SPOILERS

Its even more important to have decent writers. Lucas made the original trilogy pretty much up as he went along (hence some real inconstancy) but he had decent writers to craft it into a good screenplay and the ability to say "no, George".
The prequels are what we got when there was no one to say "No, George"

Yep. And the writer for RoS also wrote Batman v Superman and Justice League...gives a lot of context for the final product.

Probably been covered but here’s all my questions:

1. How did Palpatine come back to life?
2. Did he create Rey like Anakin was born and her parents were just random people who had her?
3. Where did the yellow sabre come from?

I did enjoy the movie but what I didn’t like was millions of ships ready to fight the Last order and it doesn’t actually happen? I was expecting the battle of all battles. Rogue one still has the best space battle
Rogue One is the best movie they’ve made under Disney.

Leia died, I think, as they indicated she would have to expend a ton of energy to reach out to Kylo. I guess she used the force to facilitate the Han/Ben reunion, and died like Luke did in TLJ.

So I guess BOTH of the children of the most powerful being in the universe - created by the most powerful natural phenomena in the universe...

Both got tired after doing something and disappeared?

...ok...I guess it could work 🤔

But Palpatine didn’t die after getting thrown into a nuclear reactor and then having the whole Death Star explode around him on top of that.

Yeah that totally holds up to scrutiny 🕵️‍♂️

And Maul didn't die after cut in twain.

And Leia didn't die after explosive decompression.

And Anakin, Yoda, OB1, and Luke didn't really die...

The Force gives you extra lives.

Found a comparison video of one of the things I brought up in my initial post and my god it’s like they didn’t even try to hide it...

This is really blatant right down to the pauses between words. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was part of the many rumored reshoots to try and give this movie a big ending. I laughed in the theater because it just reeked of desperation.

This makes me believe the reports of massive rewrites and reshoots in the summer...it’s the most clear indication of corporate meddling.
See my issue with memberberries is that it is all consumptive as long as what that individual likes. Everyone pretends they don’t want to be spoon fed the same thing over and over and yet they do.

Just look to RoTR. Pretty widely agreed on is a great attraction. Designed around the new trilogy. But what do people senselessly demand? Slathering it in more nostalgia by needlessly overlaying characters.

I have nothing against pent up demand for an E-ticket set around the Episode 4-6 timeframe, but one designed for it! Not just one slathered in memberberries.
I take no issue with you wanting that. As long as you acknowledge that we are all equally guilty of lapping up their nostalgia. Disney gives it to us in every way and I’m just as guilty.

The ‘memberberries’ phenomenon seems to be a problem everyone shares in one way or another. The sheer fact that all people want is the OT is actually more gravely sending them the wrong messaging.

Memberberries...I do love that.

You’re points are taken about the movies, rides, and all nostalgia...

The problem is that it can’t come from Disney fans with much credibility.

For one: they are far more guilty of sucking up lower quality nostalgia than anything. See the live action remakes...
In the parks - particularly wdw - everything is always awesome. Lap it up...not understanding that Disney has slowed there investment and it makes them subconsciously desperate for ANYTHING...doesn’t matter if the quality is there.

These are fans that do a 3 year vacation countdown...then spend the next two writing and commenting on a recap of that vacation.
😳

Hard to not object to that jury if you’re a Star Wars fan.

As far as ROTR goes...it’s better than falcon...we know...seems to be a good new Disney dark ride.

But longterm we don’t know if it will become old hat. The Star Wars IP needs a major kick in the now to help this ride longterm and anything else they may want to do...

Well now that I think about it: how about this hotel they’re building??

They are not gonna be able to sell it based off this sequel “thing” they’ve built in their lab.
Not really an option now...unless you give out coupons for BOGO.

...crap.

Come to think of it...Vader did by sticking his finger in an outlet and having an already robotic hand cut off...

Double crap. A two flusher

Just got back. I thought it was great. Went in with low expectations, and those expectations were greatly exceeded.

I knew this episode would struggle righting the ship after The Last Jedi, and while I will continue asking myself whether they succeeded, they did a darn good job. Certain things in the movie felt "off" but they weren't enough to dampen my enjoyment of the film. For the first time, I actually really liked the sequel trilogy characters.

Without question, the best film of the sequel trilogy in my humble opinion.

Instant reaction to Episode 9 -

10% really good
90% vomit inducing

What an embarrassment. I have never been more insulted by a movie. Every scene was infused with exposition as if either they assumed the viewer was an idiot or they realized the only way to follow the cockamamie plot was to have someone constantly telling you what was happening.

Disney should be embarrassed. Bob Iger should be embarrassed for releasing this pile of crap. I can only imagine how horrible the first cut was.

None of those went through what Palpatine did. There’s no way his body should even be in existence anymore.

My new ranking:
(1) Rogue One
(2) Rise of Skywalker
(3) Solo
(4) Force Awakens
(5) The Last Jedi
1. Rogue One
2. Force Awakens
3. Solo
4. Rise of Skywalker
5. The Last Jedi

Just imagine the gap between 3 and 4 is like the Grand Canyon for a more accurate idea. Solo is also just fun but forgettable. Force Awakens is only so high because of Harrison Ford.

2. The Force Awakens

Massive gap.

3. The Rise of Skywalker
4. Rogue One
5. Solo

I don’t understand the love for Rogue One. It has far and away the most forgettable collection of characters and is really a great 45 minute film stuck in a 2 hour film.

This is the common “positive” review I keep seeing all over the place...Flynn did one Earlier...

Sorry, this isn’t personal to you, JJ21, it’s just an illustration of the phenomena I experienced myself in 2015...I think?

It’s “ I like it” at first...then 48 hours later it really begins to gnaw. Then we get bogged down insulting/defending it.

There’s 7...to this day people say they “loved it” or it’s a “great movie”....but when asked why? Nothing really stands out.

It’s more a “force ghost” of a good movie...you want to love it, but there’s nothing to embrace

To me it just feels the most like Star Wars. I thought the characters were interesting and played off each other well and it had the same tone we now see in The Mandalorian. Plus, Darth Vader ;)

I can’t agree with you at all about the characters, but the last 45 are great. There unfortunately are 90 minutes prior to those last 45.
