Palpatine coming back.

What happened to letting the past die and killing it if you have to? Lol.

They had a cool new villain in Snoke but noooooooooooo. And now they’re bringing back the Emperor 🤣

This is going to be interesting to watch, like passing a bad car accident lol.

“The Rise of Skywalker.” No. Just no. You killed him in the last movie.

They had to bring him back. It was the only way to salvage this trilogy and give all nine a sense of cloture. Otherwise, the First Order and the entire 3rd trilogy storyline would just be a floating add-on to the first six.

My guess is Snoke will be explained as a force projection of the Emperor, just like Luke used.

So either it's being used to put it to Kylo, or it is being used to put it to Johnson. "Let the Past Die." "Nobody is ever really gone."

Also, feels like they may give away the entire Rey backstory with the title (can't be that he's coming back right?).

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Trailer looks good. They always do.

"Every generation has a legend" throwback.

Billy Dee looks like he's having fun.

Are they bringing the Emperor back, because please no.
Well, they brought Pallatine back in the Dark Empire series, perhaps one of the most revered Legends stories. Personally, with the Death star wreckage seen in the trailer, I'm ready to call the macguffin of the film either Palatine's remains or some kind of Sith artifact that went down with the station. What if the "greater evil" they're referring to is the Darksiders itself?!

At this point I don’t want her to be revealed as a Skywalker. Actually, I never did. I liked the idea I came up with after TFA that she was one of Luke’s students, the only survivor, and he wiped her mind and put her on Jakku to protect her. Part of it was making her think she was abandoned as a child rather than what really happened. Why she didn’t need training? She already had it. She may have forgotten exactly what happened but she still “knew” like muscle memory. I thought this could work because at the end of TFA both her and Luke had tears in their eyes implying they might’ve known each other.

Yep, a salvation storyline for Kylo is a possibility.

How is there Death Star wreckage? That thing was blown to dust. Unless it's a third Death Star...

So you prefer your own made up idea... Yeesh Star Wars people are weird.

Can’t wait for this film.

I mean, it makes sense they would take a long break after 9. After all, that ends an era. Kind of like the long break going in after End Games ends an era for Marvel.

Honestly it's just amazing to me. We are going on a what, 18-24 month without a Star Wars movie and that is not even a hiatus. Do they think Avatar nailed it in terms of waiting to add new content to a franchise? Just amazing to me how off the rails it feels like they have taken the entire Star Wars franchise at this point.

I would think you could take it in a direction similar to Marvel where you have a bunch of different movies that have different characters/villains and somehow connect up for major releases (though maybe it's too late for that at this point and it needs a long hiatus to reset). Or maybe the feeling is that the connection was never Star Wars, it was the major characters (whether that is true or not I don't know). I don't know, I'm kind of reserving my judgement on Star Wars as a franchise until after 9, but that article sure sounds like they don't have a ton of confidence in bringing it to the big screen at this point.

I don’t think the legitimate argument against “off the rails” can be made.

This was not bought in 2012 to grind to a halt for Disney in 2020. If you believe that - I got some swampland to sell you.

Interest is waning by any measure you can find and merch is falling.

What was the point of Star Wars again?

This is actually coming in below the bar that the post prequel LFL period (05-12) chugged along at.

We’re getting closer to “irrelevant” on a lot of levels.

True story: I have a friend that works for LEGO...I asked him about the rather curious product line choices I noticed recently. His take was interesting about the overall state of Star Wars.
