Star Tours To Get a Lengthy Rehab Soon! :)

As I said in my past post on The Living Seas, my contact who works with the WDW Marketing Development and Research team told me that a rehab to Star Tours was highly likely within the next three years, due to the fact that:
1. Revenge of the Sith is going to come out this year.
2. Lucasfilm and Disney's contract is going to expire soon.
3. MGM has not gotten much done since Rock N' Roller Coaster (Excluding the upcoming Lights Motor Action Stunt Show)
4. MGM has been having a decreased attendence record for a while now, like AK.
5. The AT-AT seems to be going through a rehab, along with the hinting of new travel destinations on the message board inside the entry queue.

I doubt that it will have to do with Podracing but one idea would be to have optional destinations for each simulator cab. I don't believe that Rex and the others need to be erased from Disney's past. I would love to travel to Mustafar, the planet where Anakin and Obi-Wan battle over the lava.

Only time will tell...
We can only hope that Star Tours gets an update without losing any of its original magic. I just pray that we don't have another JIYI Rehab Failure!!!

This rumor has been kicking around for a while. It does seem to be quite an oppertune time for a rehab of this nature, but (pardon my reservation) I'll fully believe it when I see the rehab walls up. I'd really love to see it get some TLC, though.

That message has been on the queue board for years now, this is nothing new.

Sounds promising, hopefully it comes true, Star Tours needs to be brought into the digital age.

a rehab of star tours would be great! hopefully they can keep the star wars feel of it and definately have good theming in the queue like whats there now. it would be nice to add some especially star wars themes in there so fans of the movies can feel extra specail when they visit. :)

I'd be happy if they just cleaned up the simulator movements and gave the screen a digital projection....

and after all, nothing good has come from "new" or "updated" star wars recently.

Excellent, excellent news! Motion Simulators usually dont make me sick, but Star Tours and Body Wars tend to make somewhat sicky :hurl: . They are poorly designed and very outdated. Its time to usher them in to the new century. Hopefully it wont be done on the cheap and we'll get a renewed/refreshed and thrilling ride!! :D

The next update this ride will see is a wrecking ball. (Early 07)
After that the wrecking ball will make its way down I-4 to universal to rip down Back To The Future :sohappy:

Believe it when I ride it. We have had the same attraction here at DL for many many moons more then MGM and nothing new is in the pipe line. I would love to see a new film, but like someone posted that rumor has been around since Esp. I was being talked about. Lets just hope that some time....I would bet Far Away....something new will happen with this attraction.

This wouldn't surprise me. The park is not up to what it once was. They lost the Monster Sound Show and Superstar TV and didn't replace them with anything (or anything worthwhile). RnRC and TZTOT have a narrow appeal. B&TB has been there forever. Muppets is no longer unique as every park has a 3-D movie now. Animation and Backstage tour have been gutted. Shows don't have the longevity of rides, but Disney doesn't seem to realize this.

As for AK, it's been seven years since opening and there's been nothing new, but the little Dino area.

I can see this ride being updated due to the fact that Lucas takes a lot of pride in his work. He's updated the original movies because he thought he could improve them and I think the same will happen here.

When it happens it will take a few years but it will get done or I would see Lucas putting pressure on Disney to tear it down for something new.

That has always confused me about the status of Star Tours! We *know* he's been in the parks recently, and I'd assume that he'd want to go on "his" ride...wouldn't the state of it send him in to twitching fits? I know it does me... ;)

I truly hate to say this, but if there are new videos, they will be of the new trilogy. Lucas is focused on the present, not the past, even though he should realize that he is producing crap. I personally would like to see him do a mix of the two trilogies, but that is a hard pill to swallow. I hate to say it folks, but forget Han, Luke and Leia, Jar Jar and little Ani are here to stay. I really wish I could go back to my childhood and remember the hopes I once had that the impending SW movies would be as good as the originals...
