Star Tours, Princesses, Mermaid, DC gate, Pop Century, and more... Oh My!

I wonder what this "multiple versions" could mean for the ride. I personally don't think it is true but it would give a large attendance rise and would have a high re-ridability factor, hopefully. Am I the only one who feels that Disney is overusing this 3D.

Yes, personally I think 3d tech is underutilzed. Especially in dark rides.

Im confused. the beginning of the article states Imagineers gave an update today regarding the following things for disney parks worldwide etc etc.
So it sounds like there was a press conference of some kind? And not just republished rumors afterall. but which is it?
They either talked about those concepts publicly or they didnt.

This was probably part of "Imagineering Week" at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank. My neighbor who works in TDA was talking about it, and some of them were going to drive up to Burbank to go to it. They do this on occasion, and have WDI folks drive over from Glendale and give lunchtime presentations to Studios employees so they know what is going on in the Imagineering division.

This was the presentation from a day dedicated to "future plans", and there is a separate day dedicated entirely to the latest on DCA's expansion through 2012.

It's really just a fun, breezy overview of what's going on and what's coming up next. And since it's for salaried folks at the Studios and not really public, they probably say more than they should, especially in the Internet Age.

I'm fairly certain the Star Tours information is pretty good based on conversations I've had in the past with people who would know.

3D in the way that is being discussed here is very underutilized and is just now getting used on a large scale. After seeing Up and Bolt in Disney 3D, I can say without hesitation that the future of movies is in 3D and it is wonderful. This is something JT and I can agree on.

Haven't had time to really get into the article but I will say...
Star Tours - Sounds pretty right. Doesn't conflict with anything I have heard.

Fantasyland - Mermaid is very likely. It's been on and off before, but is heading to on again, partly due to Shanghai getting one. That will allow them to double up to save money.
The rest of the FL stuff is still a little "blue". The plan is not new, and never has moved even to "yellow light" before. Could happen, but I think LM has a better chance of coming alone, at least at first.

Washington - Kinda far off in the future, barely past blue sky.

Cruise ships - Heard similar information, but not in this much detail. I like it.

Definitely in dark rides.

Steven Spielberg is currently inventing a form of 3D that doesn't require glasses. That would revolutionize the industry vastly.

Man, I just read the Star Tours piece again. 25 beginnings/middles/ends? That's crazy. I'm telling you, if I have to ride 25 times to see Boba Fett I will be...incredibly impressed.

Interesting, I wonder if mermaid will end up being a bare bones cheap scaled down version for here and Shanghai, or as grand as DCA's.

I'm praying we get the true E-ticket experience. I just can't take another scaled down, budget slashed attraction coming to WDW.

Please, please, please Disney. Satisfy the fans this time. Give us the ride we deserve, not the one that's the cheapest to implement.

Star Tours sounds really awesome and hope it happens... let's just hope your 3D glasses don't go flying off into the person in front of you! :ROFLOL:

I really want to see the current theme of FL go. DL's is extremely better (IMO). A complete makeover would be nice. If the enchanted forest does happen, lets hope it is done right. TT Fair never did anything for me, so if we can't have a full TT then I would rather see an ecnhanted forest. (which would include the train station) I would love to see some more dark rides... do you think Alice in Wonderland could fit there? The castle courtyard also sounds awesome.

I'm really hoping for LMR. I'm assuming it wouldn't open along side DLR's since construction has already began over there and for WDW, it is still a rumor.

Disney Cruise technology sounds really fun! I'm hoping to go on their new cruise ships some time.

Far as I know it will be exactly the same show, only in a different style building.

Any idea what our building would look like? That is if you can disclose that info.

I'm really hoping for some water features/a lagoon like entrance.

So we'll only have six lands instead of seven? I can't picture that for some reason... :veryconfu

Don't count on Toontown going anywhere.

Unless they move the fairies into the Skyway station...:D

Yeah I agree, a lagoon featured entrance would be fantastic, kinda like Tokyo Disney Seas mermaid lagoon but maybe with more water in front of ours, as kinda symbolic to 20,000 leagues. I def cant see DCA's building in that spot, it sounds like it wont be that at all.

Not really, only that it will be different than DCA's, and will likely expand on the Ariel's Grotto type theme.

Toontown isn't moving, only may be a little smaller if they go the enchanted forest route.
Faries in the Skyway station....nah, that's way too 2007ish.

Fine, let the kids kids enjoy their little grotto. It's not like a GIANT REAL LAGOON with STEAMPUNK SUBMARINES and GIANT FREAKIN' SQUIDS would be cooler, OH WAIT- IT WAS.

Bitter? Oh, a tad.

Maybe they could have a Snow White Attraction in the Enchanted Forest section. Heck they could even add a Beauty and The Beast Dark Ride

Awhile back the idea being thrown around was the snow white ride would be replaced with a beauty and the beast ride, and a mini seven dwarfs coaster would be the new snow white representation. Sounds like they have ditched this plan, for now.

Sounds good, still hoping for some water outside.

A guy can wish, can't he. After seeing how great Pixie Hollow looks at DLR, and how AMAZING the nighttime additions look, Phil and TDO should be ashamed they took the easy way out and put them in Toontown.

Please no on Snow White and BatB. There are so many other movies that would make great FL additions. Hercules, Pinocchio(which really isn't represented in WDW at all), etc.

Not quite.
The full FL redo that has been proposed includes more rides than TLM.
What they are, and if they will be included in the final plan is unknown. However, as I said earlier, the full FL redo would be a huge, several hundred million dollar project. I expect to see TLM added by itself before anything else happens. I just don't see them spending that much all at once.
