Star Tours II - Soft opening watch

If CMs are now certified to run it, I guess soft openings could be any day.

Glad the ST2L team are cool, I'm looking forward to meeting them. And thanking them for giving me the heads up on the Meet-Up.

Are you gonna get to ride the ride tomorrow during the CM preview? Or will you be running it instead?

The official answer is no idea. The honest to goodness answer is...no idea.

Rumor on twitter that Studios Cast Members get a soft opening today. CM's from other parks will have to wait. We'll see.

I heard it's "iffy" but would start this afternoon at 4pm.

It's still a construction area and you need a hardhat just to get in there. And they still have the slightly problem of the ride causing people to throw up due to the 3D & Motion issue.

It may be a photofinish if this thing ever opens!

Haven't heard that one...

That's the rumor I heard at least! If the Cast Preview happens I think it's safe to assume they probably fixed it =)

Not sure what you can fix on a 3D Simulator to keep people from getting nauseous... If they're becoming sick due to the combination of sim and 3D, there's really nothing to fix.

I'd imagine tuning down the simulation movement would help.

Also, I'm not sure how they programed the ride, but I heard with past sims if the programed motion doesn't match the motion of the camera, it can lead to some nasty results too. That probably gets worst with 3D.

I have no doubt they will figure it out.. but by Starwars weekend? Photofinish!

That makes perfect sense. I hope its as simple as that.

I think I have a rudimentary understanding of what a soft open of an attraction is for as do most that frequent this web site. Correct me if I am wrong, but if no changes to the cue, ride, or exit have been made, this attraction has previously been rung out, and thus the need for a soft open seems unnecessary.

Granted the different show element TRT's may be slightly different, but I would think :)lookaroun) the show flow is pretty well know and tweaking would be unnecessary.

Aside from getting/returning 3D glasses has the attraction flow changed all that much?

You don't have to if steve says it it will happen. He is very rarely if ever wrong. And I am fine with a midday opening hopefully I can get there in time. Any idea on the time steve?

Haha, you underestimate my skepticism. I'm being asked for a source on this end, and WDWMagic wasn't enough for my voracious family members.

Ugh. Disappointing as I'll be there on the 20th eagerly waiting to ride.

How can they know this far out that those 4-6 hours on the morning of the 20th will make the difference between the ride opening or not? I'm sure that they're already working overtime to get it ready in time but you can't squeeze in an extra 4-6 hours of work between now and then?

Do we know if this will affect the midnight preview event?

Slightly offtopic: Anyone going to the midnight preview willing to "sell" their +1? I'm dying to go and like most people, just missed the cutoff for the email to get in. I'll already be there so I'm looking to go as someone's +1 if possible. I'm not looking to take anyone's spot, but if someone wants to offset the cost of their trip, I'd gladly pay to get to tag along with someone. Longshot, but I figured I'd ask.
