Hey, I'll give them 8 months. It's better than a year, or a year and a half. I'm not a big Star Wars fan, but this will probably become the ride I've always thought Star Wars deserved...it's gonna be good!

Something new?

I was riding Star Tours yesterday for the first time in ages, and noticed the large screen in the beginning of the queue seemed to be upgraded.

I'll try to explain it, there was many tiles and they were going opaque and clear at random, and you could see behind it just a green grid, nothing else.

It's been probably a year or so since I rode it, so maybe it's not brand new, but thought I'd mention it.

Nope. It's just an incredibly amazing screen that should always look that good. I believe they may have cleaned it up a few years back. The glass panels by Load should also do that, however they have been left to not work as well as they should.

Ohhh ok, I always thought it was more 2 dimensional, but then again, I don't ride it very often.

I think you should just choose before you board. Best case would be 9 destinations, you choose three of them on a kiosk while waiting to board during the safety spiel.

The 2 most popular locations based on the results get used, with one random destination added for the third destination. This way your not stuck with possibly the three most popular choices each time.

Then randomize the order of the three locations. I believe this gives you 729 possible ride variations (9 to the 3rd power). Even 6 destinations would give you 216 variations on the ride.

Transitioning is as easy as a light speed jump. I'd prefer not to push buttons during the ride, especially while wearing 3D glasses.

I've read that DL is getting additional effects that would be cabin based, thus why the additional time required.

Saw the information given out at D23 online. Loved Darth Vader's appearance and the 3-D glasses. Very cute! Though I'm not not sure how I feel about the pod racers.

Doing the presentation and Vader's breathing sounds are hilarious. I would have died laughing if Vader and the presenter disagreed about something and the Storm Troopers escorted the Disney presenter off the stage! It was a fun presentation and introduction to the new Star Tours.

I know they had to update. I don't live in Orlando so I can't gauge the flow of the lines to Star Tours on any given day or time, but I know the lines obviously aren't as long as when it opened. God, I waited over two hours one time years ago. I am content with going on youtube once in awhile and reminiscing with the old Star Tours footage.

It is going to be great... 3-D especially, and the technology and production will be improved, but I guess I just grew up with the originals and would have liked elements of the older movies in there.

But then again it is Star Tours and it was smart to go to a different area and time in the Star Wars world instead of keeping it similar and using Endor again.

I was wondering if they said anything besides the film being replaced Are they changing the queue area and the props? I know some of it they will have to because the pre-show references Endor.

Will they change the exterior of the attraction?

I guess R2 and C3PO can stay because they are in the first episodes also.

Teaser video shown at CV today. Bespin, Alderaan and Endor mentioned in the video, but didn't specifically say they are destinations.

Surrell calls Star Tours II a "game changer". Interesting in the trend lately has been to lower expectations so I take this as great news. I'm sure Master Yoda will be sending more updates from down here. Where is that green wonder?

I don't ave the patience to go back thru 40 pages... can someone tell me if they are changing the exterior as well? Ewok forest, AT-AT, going away? Will we get the Cantina restaurant?

It is still open. I thought they were just redoing the movies and some of the effects. I didn't think they were changing the ride vehicles or seats.

I'm ready for a change. I think this will be a fun ride. There are some rides that shouldn't be touched like the People Mover in Tomorrowland. But I am ok with updating this ride.
