I'd be okay with that.:lookaroun

 Yeah, she takes it to a creepy level though. To the point of pretty much saying that Mandalore > Jedi. Which just isn't true and can't be true.

Her social commentary she injects in her novels doesn't help me like any better either.

However, if you can get past all that she does tell a good military sci-fi novel.

Yea. But! Boba Fett>99% of Jedis.:p

I'm pretty psyched he's going to be in the new one.:D

Yea, I completely agree on that part. I pretty much always get her books, though, because I know Boba will be in it somehow.

Hello there,

Star Tours II looks and sounds wonderful. But I believe that they proabably got ride of the speedbikers in the film as the concept maybe was'nt practical or was not particularly favoured with the imagineers so they used the tatoonine racers instead.

I my opinion, I don't care what they do to Star Tours II, as long as Captain Rex, who is my favourite, is remained intact from the makeover.

What do you guys think? :)
HUGE part of it,I agree.

I suggest you read "Darth Bane", "Crimson Empire", "I,Jedi", "X-Wing Rogue Squadron", and the Star Wars Legacy comic series.
Hell Shadows of the Empire and KJA's Jedi Academy Trilogy is better than NJO.

I can see the pitch meeting for NJO in my head:

"Hey dudes lets bring the borg to Star Wars...it worked so well for star trek"

"Ok but kill off a major charecter every 3 books just to show that these guys are SERIOUS! Plus Shock value = Sales $$$"
All awesome, especially the X Wings, and the comics. :D
Stover and Karpshyn both write Del Ray novels.

Bantam also propped up Kevin J Anderson for years and he is by far the worst SW author ever.

We should just be happy that they are not letting Karen Traviss anywhere near this ride. It would be Mandalore Tours: All Mando, All the Time.

It would be 45 minutes of Mandalore killing Jedi and lecturing us on social issues.
I like Anderson...:lookaroun:lol: (Read him as a youngling...Not now)

In 2007, WDW1974 posted a big update that announced the wand was coming down and that Star Tours 2 was greenlit. In the update, he mentioned that Captain Rex was being retired/fired. David Koeing posted a summary of the original ST 2 script which still featured a droid pilot (only this time it was a veteran pilot that more closely resembled the ORIGINAL ST pilot that was being planned before Rex). There were a couple nods to Rex in the script though.

If Disney doesn't want to bring Captain EO back just because some losers spread rumors about him why would they bring back Rex who is played by known pervert/sexual deviant, ______ Wee Herman.

If ______ Wee Herman was the Captain on Star Tours it would be a different story, but he's not, Rex is - he just happens to be voiced by ______ Wee Herman. There's a large difference between that and having Michael Jackson (even as a character) star in a movie that's seen on property. With that said, there are controversial characters that are still in existance in some capacity on Disney property. Tim Allen doesn't have a clean slate and his voice work is seen on property. Robin Williams struggled with alcoholism and he was just named a Disney legend. I don't doubt that some conservatives have opposed Ellen Degeneres' presence at the Universe of Energy, or Neil Patrick Harris for participating in the Candlelight Processional. Do I have to continue?

While I agree that there shouldn't be any Expanded Universe heavily based storylines or destinations, I don't think that means there couldn't be EU references. I think that if you saw or heard something about, say, the New Republic, or Leia Organa Solo, the average Guest would get that.

But then, that also brings up what timeframe the ride will be set in, if they even bother sticking to one (which I kind of think they should). Obviously, the prequel era and before probably won't be it because that would flat out exclude any Empire-y goodness. Sometime in the Revenge of the Sith to A New Hope era is maybe possible, having the advantage of bridging the two trilogies, thusly able to depict ships and such from both, but would be anachronistic with the original events of Star Tours ('new' StarSpeeder 3000s, etc.), and no (completed, anyways) Death Star. Most likely it will be set in the original trilogy era or maybe shortly thereafter, but that raises some questions about whether or not there'll be scenes set among battles and such with prequel-era ships, and how they would justify such a thing going on in the 'present'. And finally, there's the New Republic era and beyond, which is almost definitely right out, requiring a lot more design work, and would generally not relate to the average Guest as well. Or, they just won't worry about placing it with canon at all, and you'll be thrown into a variety of events throughout the six movies. You'll take part in the Battle of Coruscant one ride, and the Battle of Endor the next.

Personally, I'd like to see a 'Special Edition' version of original Star Tours scenes thrown into the mix. Wouldn't it be cool to have Rex depart the terminal the right way one ride, and then next time takes that wrong turn into the cargo area (with the Mighty Microscope!), and then it's off to Kashyyk or something?

I like your insight

Prequels may have sucked the big one but they were a heck of alot better than anything from the Del Ray SW novels.

Can't say I ever really paid that much attention to the publishers.

Bantam also propped up Kevin J Anderson for years and he is by far the worst SW author ever.

I have never gotten the KJA hate...

1) We know that Disney is strongly leaning towards Captain Eo back.

2) I'm sure that 90%-95% of Guests don't realize that Rex is voiced by Herman. I'm sure they'd just get a sound-alike actor, anyway, probably.

He also voiced Max in 'Flight of the Navigator' but the dvd is still on the shelves and website.

I REALLY hope that's not true, or has changed. REX makes the show.:brick: And honestly, I had no idea that he was voiced by P e e Wee Herman until you told me.

What a ridiculous reason, anyway. People need to get past that part of association in psychology!:lookaroun

For me, it was the complete lack of originality that he had.

I don't know how many stories of his used a new Death Star, part of the Death Star, plans for a different type of Death Star. He also messed with continuity something fierce, so much so that the whole purpose of I, Jedi is to fix some of those issues.

More than anything, I just didn't care for his writing style. It just grated me for some reason.

He was a great editor and I didn't even mind some of his short stories, but he was the worst of the bunch for me.

Teh Ewoks have mandalorians for breakfast! Jar Jar Binks would pwn Grievous in battle!!1

:sohappy:

But seriously. I hope STII throws you geeks all a bone in the form of some insider reference, and possibly a scene or two too. But other than that, the EU is simply lost not only on the general audience, but on most SW fans as well. I'm a SW fan, but the EU is just too...'trekkie' for me. I so hope they stick to the movies.

I think most of us understand that there is probably not going to be much, if anything relating to the EU in the ride.

It's like expecting a ride based on The Black Hole or The Great Mouse Detect...oh...wait...

No offense to Scar, but I cannot stop giggling about Count Voodoo.
To be fair, Voodoo would have been better than Dooku. Of course, so would any other name. Or, for that matter, any character sequence that would have resulted from dropping both fists on the keyboard at once. Let's try it: Count Zsldjf. Yep, better than Dooku. My goodness, sometimes I think Lucas just hates Star Wars.
