I know this is not Stanley Cup Playoff news but I just saw that the Atlanta Thrashers have been sold to Winnipeg!
The deal seems to be just about a done deal. Lots of Winnipeg fans will go nuts when this is announced. Go Jets!!

As a Pegger and die-hard Jets fan (grew up with season tickets ice-level, blue line and dad was VP of the Jets Booster Club), I can say that the majority of us are sitting on pins and needles waiting for the annoucement. Speculation is that it will come this week, but our police want a 24 hour notice before the annoucement is made so that they can have a plan in place to deal with the celebration that will follow at Portage & Main. Rumour is that the team will not be called the Jets, but the Winnipeg Falcons (who incidentially won the first Canadian Olympic gold medal in 1920 and is also the name of an F-16 fighter jet. The other name floating around is the Polar Bears, which makes me want to :hurl
