I'm guessing you are referring to the meet and greets, which up until a week or so ago seemed to be going ahead. Scaling those back to maybe a single consolidated M&G and turfing PH would definitely free up some space. How much budget it would free up is what I'm not sure of. Can't wait to see what is going to slide into place.

I just had an interesting thought. While the idea of three separate M&Gs is good, i think the consolidated M&G in ToonTown Faire actually worked much better. Yes you might have to stand in a line for a while, but then you can get 3 princes all in a row. In this new model, you have to go to several different attractions and stand in multiple lines.

That it would, indeed.
To be clear, there will be M&Gs in FL. Their location.....that's what I'm trying to nail down.

Can't wait to see what is going to slide into place.
Me too.
All this stuff is far more interesting to me than the actual FLE...

Thank you, sir.

So Juan and Lee are hinting that something may be coming to FL West.

The only plot of land for something new is the old Skyway station.

And that makes me wonder about this odd refurb going on right now at It's A Small World.

Does anyone have anymore details about what they're supposedly doing to "change the queue"? It sounds like they're moving the entrance and exit closer to Pinnochio's Village Haus.

Why in the world would they go to the expense of re-routing the queue....unless it is to free up congestion near the Skyway station!

Could this IASW project be related? (Or has this queue work been planned for a long time?)

I have a feeling Snow White is on the chopping block, I dont know why I just do. Lee?
Also I still have a horrible feeling they are going to go with the toystory playland route, I was reading some other boards which I hardly ever do, and many are thinking the same thing. I think for now on though I will stick with my wdwmagic lol.

But anyway I cant help but think something is up with snowwhite. as for toystory hopefully just heresay, but it would be a cheap addition with a "slightly increased" budget. Someone please put an end to that thought for me lol.

This is the kind of thing I think we can expect. BBB and other retail (both Cindy and Mermaid) are placed in the chateau. Traditional Cindy m&g goes to the castle where BBB is now. BatB village with Belle m&g happens as announced. LM darkride with m&g happens as announced. SB millhouse converted to clone of the castle walk through at DL with small shop or eatery. The millhouse, pooh forest and tea cups are themed together as a small english hamlet/village. As you travel past the teacups you transition to wonderland and the rethemed "Cheshire" coaster. Wonderland arcs towards the north and the train station and another transition finds you in Neverland/PH.

Now just me blue skying......

I think a stage show on the scale of Nemo featuring all the princesses could be a way to create the magic of the individual hi tech m&g's but also capable of handling the crowds. Imagine a Copperfield type magic show where each princess performed a critical moment from the film. Frog transtions to princess, Cindy gets new dress, Mermaid becomes human etc. This could really be made into a multi-media crowd pleaser and I'm not sure you could get more synergy than that.

The stage could fit between Mermaid and PH.

OK, glad I could solve the puzzle. Gotta go. :)

A few things come into my head-

-Pixies go to SkyWay
-Dumbo goes to TTF tent area,Wonderland south near speedway
-A dark ride or thrill ride goes in for Snow White or Cinderlla where the Meet and Greets were

Thanks to Lee and juan for the info. I know you can't give much, but I do appreciate what you can say.

I'm still trying to tie all this new FLE west info with Raven's post a few weeks ago about the fab five M&Gs being moved to an existing attraction, where it would be eventually moved when the new attraction is built. My original theory was into Snow White, which would then be re-built into a mine coaster for FLE west.

Still holds water..I guess.

I can only advise reading the OrSen article again. Absolutely nothing indicates any major change. They are only tweaking some of the content. Even Lee is backtracking on some of his claims.

No offense, but I would advise that you read the article again as much of it does indicate relatively major change. So many of the things you have said are not supported by the article you reference.

“We took a hard look at it amongst a number of us and said, ‘Can we make the appeal broader? Can we make it even better?’ “ Staggs said during an interview this week with the Orlando Sentinel.

For an expansion that was based almost completely on princesses and fairies, how can the appeal be broadened without serious changes? And while this is only one possiblitiy, a good way to broaden the appeal is subtract a meet n greet or two and add a ride or two. This broadens the appeal because not everyone would like a princess meet n greet, but most would like a ride still based on princesses or something else.

Staggs said much of what was included in the original plans will be incorporated into the final product and that the changes are “improving it on the margin.” He characterized the revisions as part of any creative project’s natural evolution. As an example, Disney cited Hong Kong Disneyland, where early blueprints included an area dubbed “Glacier Peak” that was eventually replaced with a section themed around the company’s Toy Story film franchise.

So, on entire land is being considered "on the margin" when compared to a whole park. In the context of a land, it could easily be said to equate to an attraction of some type.

But he said Disney is trying to broaden the project’s overall appeal. For instance, plans for three interactive princess meet-and-greets — where children could dance with Cinderella, celebrate Sleeping Beauty’s 16th birthday or play a role in a story with Belle of Beauty and the Beast — are being altered

So, we are either not getting all of the meet n greets or one (or more) of the properties are being altered into another attraction (as has been hinted at by some) in the attempt to make the overall project less girlie and have a broadened appeal.

“One of the things that I thought the early design did fantastically was delivered on that princess experience. And that does tend to skew towards girls. … We’ve kept that intact — not exactly, necessarily, the way it was presented, but that appeal is there,” Staggs said. “I think we’ve added some things that aren’t just princess-focused, and that’s a good positive.

Again, adding things that are not as princess focused but still incorporate princesses in the land.

Staggs said planners are also reviewing the Fantasyland expansion with an eye toward blending “aspirational rides” — rides that offer thrills or tension — with attractions designed for guests of all ages. And he said they want to ensure that the additions are flexible and can be updated or adapted over time.

Ok, I thought you said no rides are being added yet Staggs clearly indicates a new ride is being planned that is for all ages but incorporates minor thrills. Almost sounds like the 7 dwarves mine ride to me.

There is plenty here to suggest the plans are relatively extensive. What you say we can expect does not line up with the details from the article. For one, I don't see how what you expect to happen broadens the appeal what so ever or even warrants making any changes. Secondly, Staggs clearly indicates that a ride is coming, which your plans do not include.

I recall there being rumors before the FLE was announced of a BB dark ride replacing the Snow White dark ride and a 7 Dwarves mine ride being added as an expansion. Is it possible that these plans were cut from the announced plan and are being resurrected?

That is kind of what I am thinking because it would in theory be working with plans that already exist. Designing a whole new attraction would probably take too much time and not allow for the area to open as scheduled. However, I'm thinking that all of the beauty and the beast stuff previously planned will stay, and we'll possibly get a sleeping beauty ride, but I don't know if they have existing plans for that. I just think adding a BatB ride would be too much for that francise.

Re-read what the Sentinel, Jt04, etc. have already said. EVERYTHING that was planned is going ahead, just with minor tweaks.

What a great thread! I want to thank juan and Lee for fanning the flames of our fanboy excitement. I've been hanging around here for a while now, and have come to count on a handful of folks for some "insider info". This is all gravy to me since I have no inside connection.

One thing I do have is a pretty fair ability to use deductive reading. Beyond that, my intuitions about matters I am able to think through usually seems to be on target.

I say all that to say that:
1) obviously 66% of FLE is in flux. (hat tip to Lee)
2) when the plans are solid a great majority of us are going to be happy
3) a new dark ride/coaster is coming (sorry jt... gotta go with the pros on this one)
4) TDO needs to quit screwing around and get itself in gear because 2012/13 will be here before you know it!

I just wanted to interject that "on the margin" is a very common phrase in finance and economics. I does not necessarily mean it is a small change, but rather means it is some measure of improvement. I am thinking along the lines of increasing marginal utility, marginal benefit, etc. Given he is a finance professional, the lingo makes sense - particularly because it is somewhat ambiguous and nondescript to the average reader or anyone on the outside for that matter. I guess a good synonym would be improving "on the whole."

Also, given the budget for the expansion is secret, there is no way to peg how much of an increase could be given. As a finance person now doing PR to the public (not just stockholders), I doubt he would say, "We are adding $xxx million to the expansion because previous plans were inadequate." By not putting out a figure, he avoids bad press (ie Disney was too cheap from the get go, TDO is greedy, TDA forced this on TDO at the last second, Disney is running scared from Potter) but still shows Disney is serious about the changes. In a multi-hundred million dollar expansion, even a 5% increase would be a significant amount.

I was thinking along these lines as well. They don't want to come off as cheap. But they also don't want to look like they over-spent. Uni is getting a lot of praise for spending their money efficiently. I've read several reviews that say "you can see where the money went" or something to that effect. So, Disney can just boast about sinking a lot of money into FLE if the final product doesn't reflect that.

They are kind of in a no-win situation where those figures are concerned.
