This may be complete hogwash, but I heard a few years ago that some lady, thinking the ride was gearing up for a roller coaster type finish, jumped out of her vehicle and was badly hurt. After that, they added the spiel.

Don't know if that's true or not, but it kinda makes sense.

Maybe she mistook it for It's a Small World and thought there was water under the cars...

Does anyone know why they have this on continuous loop at the top of SSE? I'm know it's minor, but this is a pet peeve of mine on this ride. SSE is my favorite dark ride at WDW and this looping announcement over top of the beautiful score is annoying.

Everest doesn't tell you that you will be going backwards. Frozen doesn't tell you that your boat will be going backwards. Why do they need a recording on the slow-moving SSE?

You aren't strapped in like Everest... and the slow moving speed means idiots are more likely to try to get out. It's to keep people from panicking

If it happened it would have had to have been in the 82-86 timeframe. The spiel was added with the Cronkite Narration but it wasn't in it's current place until the Irons Version.
