SSE: "Your time machine is rotating backwards"

Yes, I'm aware of those warnings - and a written warning before SSE along those lines would be great. I just don't like interrupting the rise with a safety spiel.
I am sure when the average human intelligence rises to the point where electric hairdryers no longer need a "Do not use in shower" warning, Disney will feel secure enough to remove warning message in SSE. I am afraid we are stuck with it until then.

Liability. The same way the warning screens were added after load in 2001.

The rotating warning spiel currently in 180top was before the vortex tunnel pre 1994. They must have thought guests would forget about it in the following 20 seconds when they did the Irons overlay, and its stayed there ever since.

Also, when AT&T sponsored the Irons version, I distinctly remember, "Welcome to the Global Neighborhood" narration at the end...

Not important, but I miss it...along with everything else that was in the Jeremy Irons version (especially the descent)
Yeah, that was an abrupt tonal shift but not enough to change the fact that the second I saw that Model of SSE surrounded by fiber-optic lights it has profoundly impacted my worldview ever since.

This bothered me so much. I really like the music and visuals in that scene and hearing the same spiel over and over really takes you out of the moment. It's so loud too!

Off topic a bit, but is there a reason the on-board audio is so quiet? I could barely make out what Dench was saying on my ride.

THAT! That right there is the one thing I miss the most, the Model of SSE with the fiber-optic lights. Where did this end up going?

Maybe it ended up with the Dreamfinder AA....

Because people are stupid. Because people don't listen. Because people are dumb enough to try and jump out if it makes a movement that they weren't expecting. Did I mention that people are stupid? Stupid is the ultimate reason, right now, that we cannot have nice things.
^^^This is why Splash Mountain has lap bars now.

I think you could be just a little more clearer in what you are trying to say.
I suppose I could move the comma: "What, are you stupid?"
One version sets an expectation for a classification (what) and then asks if the person meets a specific condition (are you stupid?).
The other suggests a mystery (what are you?) and then suggests a possible response (stupid).
Slight variations in meaning, but pretty much the same implication.

But I think we'll all agree that the comma is necessary; the only option is where you put it.

And please note, for those of you who might not have noticed, that I'm replying to a reply ranting about stupidity -- I'm not actually calling the poster "stupid," I'm playing off his response to the rant about stupidity, saying he wasn't clear about what the original ranter was saying. It's actually meant to be a joke, but if I have to go into this much detail explaining it, that just squeezes all the funny out of it.

Oh I don't know. I think your response is very funny.

Haunted Mansion is another ride where they don't tell you you're about to be turned backwards, and not only that, but dipped. But at least on that ride, they do have a lap bar.

As for SSE, I have been on when the vehicle narration wasn't working properly, so maybe those of you who have said that's why they need the warning coming from above instead of inside the vehicle is necessary are right.

I'm just waiting for SSE to be refurbished another time so that I can concentrate on looking down, down, down that hill in descent mode once again. It's just so cool, visual stimulation-wise.

Nope. It was addded after.

Although there was a live cast member in 180top sat under the track for a few weeks in October 1982 when the vehicle rotation lock often failed to disengage / engage.
Heh. I have this funny picture of the lock failing to engage and Disney having its own slow moving spinning wild mouse ride... even though it'd probably just spin to the point where the weight is balanced and stop.
