Spring Discount offer

Kind of funny, but when I finally got through yesterday morning at 7am to book our April vacation (after having difficulties on their website the night before, as I mentioned in my earlier post #43 in this thread), the CM basically kept calling this Spring Discount offer a special Canadian deal that she was extending to me. She actually told me that I would have to show my passport or some other form of citizenship ID upon checking in to Pop in order to be able to get the rate she was giving me, which for the record, was the exact total the website was giving me the night before with the Spring Offer discount before it went down on me.

Dray, on the last General Public offer for Free Dining both Riverside and FQ were excluded. It was included on some PIN code offers however, maybe she meant excluded completely? Marie

Yeah, she said that they're trying to get FQ out of all offers in the near future.

What also happens a lot is those that are already booked with a TA at rack rates get switched to the discounted rate which take away the discounted rooms for some others that want to take advantage of the deal

As TA's we do get updates quite a bit quicker than the General Public and we do work to get our clients the best offers as quickly as possible. This is one of the advantages of booking through a Authorized Disney Vacation planner agency. Also as our services are free to our clients, there is no additional cost to have all of the work done for you. Marie

I was a Disney centric TA for about three and a half years. I have been booking trips to WDW for 20 years. The availability for discounted rooms have become less and less. Last year CBR was a ghost town in January and I bet it is much the same this year. I don't want to come across as just being contrarian but I see no evidence that current occupancy has anything to do with the discounted room availability. The one thing Disney does exceptionally well is marketing.

anecdote: I have been blessed that I have a family member who is a retired cast member, as some know they receive an exceptional discount for the holidays. In years past I could always get the resort level ( ie. value, mod or deluxe ) that I wanted. Most years you could get the exact resort no matter the level. This year I was on the phone the very first day at zero hour and was limited to, not just one level but to just one resort.....AKL. No mod or value available. I understand that its much different then a publically announced discount. But IMO Disney is doing exactly what they said they were going to do. Do away with discounts. The problem is that the public has come to expect these discounts. Perception is everything....if a guest isn't able to get a desired discount because they are "sold out" they are not going to be as upset if Disney simply discontinues them. As Ford said its the "bait and switch"......marketing at its best.....in this case its worse.

When a discount comes out, Disney allows a certain amount of rooms to be included with each discount. The discounts come out at the same time for both travel agents and the consumer and it is the same inventory for both sides. So to say that we take away rooms is not true. You have the same chance of getting a discounted room as an agent. It's just a matter of calling in and getting through before the discounts are gone for that specific hotel/room view.

It's coming in 2 waves.
First set of dates
Booking window 12/29 - 2/16
Travel window 3/2 - 4/5 and 4/6 - 6/15
Values for first set of dates save 15%, second set saves 20%
Moderates save 20% on first set, 25% on second set
Deluxes and Villas save 30% on the first set and 35% on second.

Second offer dates
Booking window 2/17 - 3/28
This has 2 segments also
Travel dates match those from first wave above
Value discount on first set 10%, second set is 15%
Moderates are 15 and then 20
Deluxes and villas are 25 and then 30

Package with ticket upgrade offer
When purchasing a package there is a minimum 4 day ticket required for purchase in order to receive 1 day free.

There are no blackout dates specifically for the holidays that I can tell but as always all offers are limited.

Campsites, 3 bedroom villas and mermaid rooms are excluded. There may be other limitations depending on resort availability.

Marie

So when are these discounts live?
I know you can call them and have them apply new discounts to your reservation.
I'm arriving 5/23 so I guess I will get anywhere between 10-20% off my reservation.

They went live on the 29th. Your discount will depend on your resort.

Quick question, doesn't apply to me, but may for some other people. If you were one of the people who booked a resort before the discount and tried to apply the discount when it comes out, but they don't have any left, do you at least still get the 5th day free deal?

Yes exactly what Ember said. If you have a reservation with Disney you can call to see if there are discounted packages still available at the resort of your choice. If you don't have a reservation already, you can certainly contact us for a no obligation quote to see what is available and we would be able to assist you with planning and setting up your trip. As always our services are free to our clients. Marie

No, unfortunately not. The free day is built into the Spring discounted offer and wouldn't apply to any other package. Sorry!! Marie

Darn it! One of my friends booked early so she could apply the discount later and they are booked. I was hoping she would still get the free day as a consolation prize lol. I sent her your information if she needs help for her next trip :)

If the hotel/room category is close to or at full capacity it won't be included. It may be just for those specific dates or perhaps the resort itself was not included.

I think you may have misunderstood... I was referring to guests having already booked (through an agent) at rack rate and then when the discount comes out the TA can (or tries to) get the package moved to the discounted price therefore moving already booked non discounted room to the discounted rooms

I didn't misunderstand. When the discount comes out it is open to everyone and it's a first come first serve basis. We don't have priority over the general public. Whether booked through a TA or the guest themselves booked it, it makes no difference. Disney decides what resort and how many rooms to offer for each discount so it's not due to the TA booking guests at rack rate and switching them. There are just as many people that book without using a TA that call in to get them switched. If we have clients booked at a hotel and the discount cannot be added, we give them the opportunity to go with a back up resort so they can get the discount. It's an open playing field and a bit unfair to try to blame TA's on not being able to get a discount.

Wow I still think you are misunderstanding me here and I'm not being unfair to anyone. I'm not blaming travel agents at all here. They are doing their job and what disney enables them and anyone else to do. Maybe I shouldn't have said travel agents because individuals could do the same thing....the difference is the agents keep track of this more than most individuals that booked themselves and know they CAN call and have many already booked switched to the lower rate which is available for them and anyone to do

All I am saying is some rooms that are already booked at rack rack get moved from that to the discounted rooms so it's not like disney releases a discount for 50 rooms at resort A and 50 new parties book their trips

I guess I misunderstood the line that says those that are already booked with a TA at rack rates get switched to the discounted rate which take away the discounted rooms for some others that want to take advantage of the deal. Sorry my mistake.

I called them today and I had it booked since November.
they changed it all, I got the 5th day free and 30% of a Moderate which bumped me from the AoA to Coronado and still saving $150 overall.
