SPOILERS: WandaVision Discussion / Reactions to Most Recent Episodes

Releasing episodes weekly makes sense. It's a TV show, not a movie.

I get why people want to binge it, because of how slow it is to dole out information and reveal what's going on, but have a little patience people.

It's nice to have "water cooler" shows in this day and age, where instant gratification is the norm. There's actually time to discuss the show, without everyone being at different stages of their viewing.

Another big issue is spoilers. Anything Star Wars or MCU, you've got a short window to catch it before articles and comments start showing up online, ranging from vague and slightly spoiler-y to flat out revealing major plot points.

If they released every episode of WandaVision, it wouldn't feel like people have a choice as to how to watch it. You either binge it all at once, or take the risk that details will likely be spoiled before you finish up 9 weeks later.

Indeed.

When WandaVision is over in Feb, FatWS starts in Mar. And when that is over, Loki starts in May. And "What if..." is in "the Summer," and Ms. Marvel and Hawkeye are both in "late 2021."

So, I'd guess every other month, the next Marvel series will start. "What if.." in July, Ms. Marvel in Sep, Hawkeye in Nov.

Then The Book of Bobba Fett the last week of December.

There won't be more than two weeks in a row that D+ won't have an 'event' episode premiering every Friday.

And as I've said above... everyone has the option to wait until the last episode and binge watch the whole series on that day.

While that's going on, we'll get theatrical releases: Black Widow; Venom 2; Shang-Chi; Eternals; and Spider-Man 3.
Yep, D+ will own Fridays for the foreseeable future.

Also, I'd wager that streamers will move away from dropping whole series to binge. In fact, dropping a whole series at once is a sign that the streamer is desperate to hook new views (like Netflix was at one time when offering original content was kinda new for them), or, they think the series won't be that popular.
Exactly, it was a way to get initial subs and then they realized that sub would go away once they binged the content they sub'd for in the first place. The churn is a big problem with streamers. Only way to retain subs is to have something they can return for weekly to keep the sub going.

TGIF reboot. D+’s cousins at ABC will be jealous.

I disagree. I think if you poll the majority of MCU fans , they would want it all at once.
Very possible as people like instant gratification. I would just argue that Game of Thrones and LOST were such phenomenons thanks to fandom getting a slow trickle and talking about the shows weekly, over many months of a season...not just in between seasons.

Again in your opinion.

Once again the king of season drops, Netflix, has since backed off this practice with their recent seasons of their originals. Amazon, Apple, and D+ all do the same. The paradigm has shifted once again back to traditional weekly episodes rather than dropping all at once.

Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean everyone else can't get on-board and enjoy watching programs weekly.

My advice, if you don't like it then just wait and watch it all at once when the season is over.

Funny how D+ "new" TGIF includes the sister of the twins that helped start TGIF.

I think there are advantages and disadvantages to whole season dumps. Sure it allows you to be in and out in a short period. But then when you're done its over. Nothing to look forward to until the next season, leading to dropping the service. This is why its ultimately a bad business model, as stated previously too much sub churn. Gives no incentive for a sub to remain sub'd. And the reason why all streamers are now switching back to weekly episodes for a lot of their originals.

i was just about to mention lost. i remember there would be 2 sometimes 3 weeks in between new episodes. i don’t mind waiting a week for a new episode, but back then it was frustrating as hell.

Indeed. The short form series gives a nice arc over the course of 6-10 episodes. No repeats in the middle of the series. No waiting for the arc to finish in the second half of the season in the winter/spring.

Not true. Netflix just released the entire season 3 of Cobra Kai one of its most popular shows.

Oh you got me, one show. Yes Netflix is still releasing some of their originals as binge shows, others they are releasing as weekly. It’s not ALL or nothing my friend.

Again just because YOU disagree with this weekly release schedule doesn’t mean everyone else does also or that all streamers aren’t going to do it. Amazon went to weekly with The Boys and it turned out ok. So just accept that streamers have changed and will release some of their originals weekly.

And again I suggest if you don’t like it, well then wait and the binge the whole season at once.

People universally hated THE BOYS SEASON 2 was released weekly instead of all at once. you can look that up easily online.

I would bet the majority would also keep their subscriptions to D+ to see each week. And I bet more would drop their subscriptions after seeing the whole series than would if they only saw 3-4 weeks. You talk about how the model changed, but I'd argue there's a very good chance Disney has changed the model again. If Netflix was smart, they would do something similar with their shows after seeing how well it's working for Disney. Not only are you keeping subscribers, but you keep the series talked about for longer. I may prefer to watch it all at once because I'm impatient, but fact is from a business side this makes a ton more sense.

Majority of people signed up for the 3 year deal when Disney + was announced and paid upfront instead of opting for the monthly payment. To them it is already paid for and they just want the content now.

There is so much in an episode of WandaVision that you need a week to watch, rewatch, rewatch to focus on background Easter egg stuff, then go back and watch past episodes again. I dont think binge watching allows one to soak in all that each episode offers.
Incorrect. people rewatch episodes several times before going to the next or go back to a episode once they finish the season. This is not a good argument.

Majority of who? They have grown by like 300% in the last year. A lot of people did do this (looking at myself), but it is not the majority. And even if we go with that argument, then they are in no danger of losing subscribers based on people being upset either as these people are locked in for another year anyways.

You missed my original point.
