SPOILERS: Moon Knight, latest episode discussion

One Little Spark...
I didn't realize this had been released yet! Growing up I thought Moon Night was really cool. (now if only I could get a storyline with the Rose).

I refuse to read any of the thread, only a quote response to this, cuz spoilers.

Is it worth watching? Any good?

This show has been horrible. Why would they make a superhero show where they don't show the superhero?
I wouldn't say the show is horrible. But the lack of moon knight is a large black eye for the show. We have just 2 episodes left and even if we get a huge helping of the character in the final episodes, it will still be a letdown. Disney still has a lot to learn with series programing.

it was a decent episode. i think isaac is doing a great job in the role & i mentioned before…he’s nailing that british accent. probably won’t win an emmy, but he’s making the show fun to watch.

Ep5 was interesting, they did go the route of Duat with a twist. So the asylum was all in his mind, a dream if you will, because that is how he sees himself, a broken man with mental issues.

Seeing how and why Marc formed Steven is important as its something that not many shows/movies address when dealing with DID. So I applaud Marvel for telling that side of the story.

I liked the episode overall, but don't know how they are going to wrap this up with just one episode left. Also we still haven't seen the Jake personality which was hinted at in Ep4.

If I had to guess, I'd say the same way all the other marvel shows ended. Rushed. That's been my biggest criticism of the marvel shows. They take too long to get where they are going and then you fly through the final episode. I get the "long form storytelling" argument that people use to defend the shows. But all the D+ shows are not much more than two movies. A rough guess from looking at the times, is the average show is about 45min when you take out the intro and credits. Thats about 4.5 to 5hrs of content per series. That's way too short to beat around the bush and have a slow burn in my opinion.

Overall I don't disagree with you if you are just looking at the individual shows as standalone series. But with everything somehow tied to the MCU there is a larger story being told, one that we may just not see yet.

Yes it would be more interesting from a storytelling aspect if these show were wrapped up like a normal standalone series would be, but they aren't completely standalone.

So I just go with the flow and see where Feige and team take us on this long journey through the MCU.

Until I read this I had thought todays episode was the finale. I thought it was all a mental issue and the whole Egyptian theme was just in his head, I was disappointed that his split personality died and it just ended a minute later without even a mention of the moon knight. Lol.

I’m undecided on the show but the actor is great.

You better believe that Steven will be back, its just the question of how. And again where is the 3rd personality, Jake. He has been hinted at for the entire series but has not shown up yet. Trying to save Steven might be what brings out Jake, who knows.

Its an interesting ride to say the least.

I agree, there is a larger story being told, just like the movies. The issue isn't as much the shows not wrapping up. They do wrap them up and set up the larger story. They just take too long to get to the wrap up so it feels rushed and a bit lacking. I don't need 24 episodes like a traditional series. All I ask is just give yourself enough time to not rush through the end.

Problem is too much backstory needing to be told in a small number of episodes. They should consider either, 1. trimming down the backstory but potentially leaving the viewer in the dark about certain potentially important aspects of the characters, or 2. expand to 9-13 episodes so you have enough time to tell the backstory you want but also not rush the ending.

Just my take on it anyways.

That's exactly my point. You can't do the shows the way they are doing it with only 6 episodes.

1. Plushie. Hippo. Where is it, Disney??? #missedopportunity

2. Waiting on Jake like most everyone else waiting on more Moon Knight...

3. Kudos for leaning into Marc's Jewish background - however, a few mentions of shiva and then you have him repeatedly smashing a kippah on the ground? How would that have gone over with a Muslim ripping off her hijab and smashing that on the ground multiple times? Not so well, I think. I see there was a "Judaism consultant" in the credits - so they approved this?

sorry - they just can't get me to care about Marc. So a full epi on his origin... and I still don't care about him at all.

This show has been a complete whiff for me.

Meh. Needs more Moon Knight.

Honestly don’t really need this much exposition. Could have been summed up quicker and gotten back to the more interesting stuff.

I agree that it is a disturbing trend with the marvel shows that they seem to have rushed and overstuffed finales. It’s okay to have more episodes if you need that for your story.

This episode gave me strong WandaVision Episode 8 vibes, which was great. I really enjoyed the opportunity to sit with Marc/Steven for a bit and explore his background. I unfortunately just can't fathom how they can resolve this all in in a satisfactory manner next week.

I’m really enjoying getting to know Marc more and why he created Steven. I find it very interesting.

Overall I’ve been loving this show, and don’t feel it needed more Moon Knight, as I’m sure we will get our fill in upcoming seasons / movies.

It’s been great really getting the origin story, to really understand the human behind the mask.
