SPOILERS: Moon Knight, latest episode discussion

I felt this was the strongest episode (to me), even though it was very divorced of Moon Knight in some senses.

Of note the Netflix Marvel series common criticisms were the run times (13 episodes). They all seemed to lose steam. This is not a revision complaint, but one I recall frequently while they were on. I wonder if Feige took that somewhat to heart or wanted to separate himself from Ike. The Fourth act, if we wanted to call it that, where the seasons bad was disposed and the hidden even bigger bad were hit or miss. Typically that was the weakest part of each season.

Meanwhile the 6 episodes pacing seems to have this common refrain of not giving the third act enough time to breath. Maybe 7 or 8 would be the right call.

Ep5 was interesting, they did go the route of Duat with a twist. So the asylum was all in his mind, a dream if you will, because that is how he sees himself, a broken man with mental issues.

Seeing how and why Marc formed Steven is important as its something that not many shows/movies address when dealing with DID. So I applaud Marvel for telling that side of the story.

I liked the episode overall, but don't know how they are going to wrap this up with just one episode left. Also we still haven't seen the Jake personality which was hinted at in Ep4.
Loved this episode and loved how they showed the DID issue. Well done, and I congratulate Marvel and Disney for handling that so well. Love the whole Duat swerve.
I wonder if Steven is gone now, and they somehow stabilize Marc in the future which is totally off comics.

My guess is the ending will be Marc getting out of the afterlife, being restored along with Khonshu and a direct ending of Ammit and Harrow of some kind.

Steven is not likely gone, as its at the core of the character to have multiple personalities for different situations. The whole reason why Khonshu picked Marc was because his mind was weak due to having DID, it was even mentioned in this episode. Plus you can't have Mr. Knight without Steven in this iteration of the character, and they already have both Moon Knight and Mr. Knight at DCA for M&Gs so Steven is not gone.

But yes I expect Marc leaves the Field of Reeds (Aaru) saves Steven, reunites with Khonshu, and hopefully defeats Harrow.

I appreciated the emotional back story, but other than that I had NO idea what the frock was going on!

I'm guessing Mark will sacrifice so that Steven can live or something like that.

Has anyone put out the idea that Jake could be a personality realized by Steven and not Marc? A disorder within a disorder. Marc might not know he exists.
Well when the series first started Marvel made it seem that Steven was the primary personality, that they had changed things up from the comics. So while it did end up they remained true to the comic origin story, I do think its possible that Steven creates the Jake personality.

I also think this is why the scales balance at the loss of Steven.
I also 99% believe that the bandaged nose version was Jake, even if it's been officially denied (they do lie all the time and I'm glad they do.)

Man, gotta admit I had little interest in this series, so I finally caught up this weekend. Guess I'm a bit alone here that I'm loving this series. I'm sure it's in large part due to the acting, which has been incredible. I do get the criticism that moon knight hasn't been much in the series, but honestly I haven't noticed much. I like seeing all this origin. Now, caveat being I need a good last episode (which was my wandavision criticism), and then I need a 2nd season now that we have such an incredible backstory.

I like the origin stuff as well. But we really haven't seen too much of it. They showed his split personality origin, but glossed over his moon knight origin.

That's the big what if in my opinion. Marvel TV has a Abrams finishing problem. I hope it's just a Learning the medium issue, but Im not sure they figured it out yet. It will be really hard to stick the landing on this one and not have it be a bit of a letdown. especially if you wanted to see more of moon knight.

A second season doesn't seem to be a lock, but it would really help season 1. Especially if it focused on the actual super hero.

A second season is questionable as Oscar Isaac apparently only signed for this one season and nothing else (not movies, not further seasons of the show).
This is no different that any other D+ Marvel show so far, none were immediately slated to have a second season. The only difference is that the others had their leads already under contract versus Issac who wasn't under a Marvel contract.

And so as of now officially only Loki will have a second season, and to a lesser extent What If will also have a second season. Beyond that no other D+ Marvel show has gotten a second season so, and there are 10 more new shows coming.

Now with that said, I fully expect to see Isaac back as Moon Knight in the MCU in some capacity whether that be in a future movie, a season 2, or in another series. He is just too good in this role for this to be a truly one-off character never used again.

I'm sure you understand this, but to make it clear to others I think the point of that was that Marvel just wasn't going to make these huge 7-10 multi-picture deals anymore, but would still ink smaller deals based on project. That wasn't to say that an actor wouldn't come back for a role.

So think if it as an actor would get separate contracts for a series, a lead in a movie, a cameo in a movie, etc.

Overall, Moon Knight was a solid show. Episode 1 was great, but then it got progressively more convoluted and unengaging in episodes 2 and 3. I was beginning to write the show off as a misfire, but it rebounded with the twist in episode 4. Episode 5 was the best in the series (and a highlight for the MCU overall) while Episode 6 delivered the most satisfying finale to an MCU Disney+ show to date.

Hopefully, we will see the character return in some form — either in a season 2 or a movie.

Loved just loved the ending and the post credit scene nailed it the most. Sets the stage for the future and I can't wait to see what that future was. Very, very well done.

Really thought the post credits would announce the second season. I liked it a lot, but definitely at this juncture feels the most contained (or divorced) from the MCU. More akin to the Netflix series. I'm certain that will change, but I was waiting for the hint that it would.

Well they managed to wrap it up just nicely, I'm amazed. I liked the CGI used for Ammit, was actually one of the better CGIs done for the MCU.

The Jake post-credit scene was good, but would have liked him earlier.

Feels like they have set it up so that it could either end here, get a second season, or continue the story in a movie. So who knows where we see the character next.

Before the tag, I thought - welp, they missed nailing another ending. None of the D+ Marvel shows have lived up to their hype though they've each started out with such promise.

After the tag, I thought - welp, that's better at least. But still... eh.

With that said, I'd probably rank this my third fave after Falcon & Winter Soldier, then Loki. I actually enjoyed it more than Loki, but anything with Hiddles giving that grin gets bonus points from me, so Loki defaults to second place though I probably enjoyed Hawkeye more. Maybe Hawkeye ties for third. Heck, maybe I just really enjoyed Falcon & Winter Soldier, President Loki and then everything else was just okay in whatever order.

But the hippo was the best part of the whole thing (Moon Knight).

Yeah think I'd agree with the thought the end credit made the ending. I'd have it top 2 with falcon and winter soldier. Hawkeye is definitely last to me. Loki is probably my second least favorite.
