Splash Mt question.

This last trip (8/19-8/30), we headed for Splash Mountain as one of the first rides in MK. Our last trip was August '06. We got Kidswap passes and the DW went on with our DS and DD, while I waited with our other DD. While waiting at the exit I noticed everyone getting off was ALOT wetter(some soaked) then in previous years as we have ridden it many times and only got a little splash if we were lucky. My wife and kids had the same comments when they came off. So now it was my turn to go on with the kids, but I really didn't want to get soaked so they went on the second time alone and I stayed dry!! Anyone else see this too? And does anyone know when they changed the amount of the splash effect?

I always hope to sit in the front of the log, I don't mind getting wet, seeing as how it is a water ride and there are all kinds of warnings before you get on. But I did notice last year that they had changed it up a little bit and you seem to get a little more wet before you hit the drop and then it just intensifies everything. But I don't have an answer to your question sorry.

The water cannons were intensified for a while, and upon your turn around the drop (just before you go on a climb through the barn/shed) the cannons would fire off and soak the entire boat. This is not set up the same anymore, and you will be MUCH more dry should you ride it anytime soon.

I've always found Splash Mountain to be just like your standard Log Flume, and you don't really get soaked, just a little damp.

Our trip was last week and they got soaked in all seats. I know they had warnings signs up for years but like I said, in our many trips we never got more then a little splash. I mean people were coming off lokking like they came off Kali River Rapids.(not kidding)

The wettest I have gotten was in Feb (brr) and it was coming around the first turn where you sit and wait in queue while the log to your right comes down the big drop and splashes. Timed correctly, you can get pretty wet! I would like to see the ride wetter than it has been in the past. :sohappy: Maybe they can adjust the wet-factor based on how hot it is out. I would hate to get soaked in Feb. july - no problem!

Maybe they added more cars because my wife said that is where they got it too. So the cars must build up before going up the hill...... I don't recall a wait at the hill all the other times.

You know, I was thinking the same thing. About being wet. When we sit in the front, we have been more drenched than usual. The was one time on pirates though...

I've gotten soaked in the very back of the log waiting in the queue I mentioned above. I don't remember if I have been in the front!

In Nov. of 06, we had gone on the first day that everyone arrived. So of course we rode. Well the first air jets after the briar patch went off, and we ended up getting so wet we were stuck to the seats. Then when we went again in April the jets in the same place went off just as hard. Then this past week of the 4th of July, again we got wet, but, even though they weren't blasting as hard they still got us pretty wet.

They can adjust the jets that go off when a log comes down the drop and do based on the temperatures. If it's very hot, the jets go at full blast left, right and forward [forward gets people on the bridge]. As temperatures drop, they eliminate the forward blast and greatly reduce the sideways ones. The one thing they can't control is the splashes caused by waves in the water or the bow spray. Some logs seem to get more bow spray than others and you can get quite drenched just by that.

My daughter and I always argue over who gets in the boat 1st because very often we wind up stopped in an area just after the big drop where a waterfall runs down the rocks. Whoever is on the right side, can get much wetter. We never tell other people though because we like to watch their reactions when our boat gets stopped there.

On a pretty cold day, my sister pretty much jumped into my lap when she saw the wter coming up at us from the falling log. She was in the right hand seat. :ROFLOL: We are the same size so the 2 of us trying to occupy one side of the log at the same time was hysterical - we shreaked and giggled - it all happened in slow motion - and thinking back makes us laugh.

The actual splash never gets me all that wet. As everyone else said, it's that part where you are waiting to go up the first hill where you can get drenched. I've gotten soaked there on a number of occasions. There really is no way to avoid it- it's luck of the draw whether or not you are stuck in the right spot when another log goes down the hill.

That's the part that gets me every time. DS actually wishes for us to get stuck in that spot every time we ride.
