This seems like an improvement over the last update. "CTRL-F" + "salt" and "mines" shows no results, and Louis and Mardi Gras are back at the fore...for now.

Good indication that Tron might open before the reported April dates?
You don’t want to ride splash when it is in the low 60’s or upper 50’s on a January or February Day in Florida. It‘s absence won’t be impactful.

Happy to see this project finally have a start date! Judging by concept art, we’ll be getting a lot of animatronics. Lewis, Naveen, Tiana and this reoccurring band? If every scene features them, I think we’re off to a great start. What will make or break this attraction will be the music. It needs to be on par with the movie and original Splash, otherwise this ride will sink.

I would hope that the ride wouldn’t only have this same band recurring. Part of the magic of splash was that it had so many unique critters throughout the attraction

Well, it was inevitable that it was gonna close in January. Sad to see Splash Mountain go, but it is what it is now. The concept art looks better then what was shown before. Not sure how Disneyland’s is gonna be done by late 2024 if they don’t close that one soon as well.

They’ll probably lose it in March

I don’t think it’s super likely that either of these make the 2024 date. But if they want to make what they are proposing (bayou ride), the scenes for the Florida version need to be completely changed. It won’t be easy (or cheap) to uninstall the existing sets.

The Disneyland version, which relies more on darkness and already has the swampy trees will take a lot less to convert.

Well, we've sadly progressed from "Will it ever happen" to "Will it even finish in 2024".

Even more pressure on Disney now, Tiana's Runaway Railway isn't going to cut it as a replacement.

Now I know how EPCOT Center fans felt when Horizons and JII closed.
Does that mean I know get to trot out the usual talking points of outdatedness, the parks aren't a museum, etc., etc.?

I mean, c'mon, who's not excited about the salt mines, a well-known historical New Orleans attraction!

Heck, it might be, those potholes are pretty deep, who knows where they end up. 😆

I threw up in my mouth reading this twaddle:

“We wanted that spirit reflected in this scene (and throughout the attraction) so that all our guests feel welcome to join in the celebration. It’s emblematic of what we’re always striving for with our attractions – bringing people of different backgrounds together through timeless Disney stories.”

Funny, I thought Disney wanted to entertain people. Period. Full stop.

Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.

Call me crazy, but Splash is my favourite ride and has been for a long time, and I'm cautiously optimistic about this. I'll miss the music *so* badly but P&TF music has the chops and swing to potentially fill its shoes somewhat, and if they really are putting the higher budget into this that's been speculated/rumoured then I think we'll be pleasantly surprised at the quality of the outcome. Someone in there has to know what the stakes are with this, it's the flagship of their inclusivity policy and a change to a beloved all-timer attraction.

That said, the Tiana's Foods thing is still beyond stupid.

All the talk that they bumped the budget up only after everyone reacted just short of throwing tomatoes is amazing to me.

Apparently, no, no one knew the stakes. Or at least, they all ignored that guy.
