Even more hum-drum on the exterior than I imagined...Losing the tree and Mama Odie's boat in favor of yet another water tower is terrible... A few fake cypress trees...a lot of artificial vegetation that will fade in a few months.
at least they didn't call it Tiana Springs... they seem to add "springs" to anything they can't think of an interesting name for...lol
and I agree the crown on the water tower is the "crowning Touch" of awful. So I guess all you can say about the placemaking of the new attraction is "rusty water tower" and a ridiculous "Celebration Of Friends and Family" party going on...
meh.

The retheme is unimpressive during the daytime, but it looks SPECTACULAR at night.

I wonder why they got rid of the tree at the top from the concept art. Could it not withstand the weight?
It was always just blue sky art they quickly pulled out to protect Disney+ from boycotts during summer of 2020. The tree destroyed sightlines, weighed too much, the attraction was never built to support such a thing, and it would have been a major issue to maintain.

Hey according to that description there is going to be a Salt mine in the ride. Looks like we now know what the Laughing place is turning into for sure.
I've been reporting on this for months. They went to Avery Island to try to create some sort of backstory for all of this. For whatever reason, they were impressed by the salt dome. Allegedly they wanted to turn the whole mountain into a salt dome background but the budget looks to have limited them to a few fake trees and a garish tower.

The visual storytelling in Splash is so good that you can tell exactly what’s going on, even without audio or dialogue. I’ve got a bad feeling this plot about finding a missing ingredient or whatever is going to be overly complicated.
Crippled by its own need to present Tiana as a CEO.

They really took our princess and gave her the backstory of the McIllhenny family (founders of Tobasco pepper sauces) complete with her own Avery Island.

Between this convoluted narrative and the underwhelming concept art, it’s like some in Imagineering hate this idea more than the staunchest Splash Mountain defenders.
Never doubt the power of an agenda and incompetence.

It's really a shame, because there's a very good movie with very good visuals to base this off of.

This is essentially the problem that I have with so many movies today, and so many prequels.

There is something kind of amusing about the backstory for this attraction being that Tiana is growing her business and building her brand.

I fully expect there to be pages from the local business press pinned up in the queue explaining this in great detail as that is WDI's standard approach to theming these days. Something to read while you're waiting, I guess!

I was just playing coy since for some reason people got annoyed when people mentioned salt mines may be part of the ride....After the Research trip video mentioned salt mines.
