I think GMR and MMRR are significantly different and don't have the same purpose -- GMR wasn't just about putting you in the movies. That's why losing GMR was such a big hit to the original theme of DHS. MMRR may actually fit the new theme (such that it is) better, but the current version of the park is kind of aimless.

DHS has no theme. It's just "Disney"...whatever that is. The "Hollywood" aspect is merely superficial leftovers at this point.

I'd say I'm more made about GMR closing than Splash. If a park ever needed extra capacity above all else, it's DHS. And the only thing offensive about GMR was that it wasn't "Disney" enough to management, despite having Mickey Mouse and Mary Poppins in it.

I had a feeling GMR days were numbered when it was no longer Disney-MGM Studios and with the various park changes

Yeah, I mean, the decision to re-theme Splash Mountain is somewhat unprecedented as it's the first true E-ticket that they've decided to re-theme or remove (while it still had E-ticket status).
Well Tower of Terror in DCA was a retheme to a popular attraction but it didn't have the longevity of Splash. If they changed the Florida one I think you'd have this type of reaction.

Rumors about GMR closing go back to when the hat first went up.

After so many years of nothing I just assumed it wouldn't. Then TCM became the sponsor and they changed some things and I thought for sure it's not closing now.

Boy was I wrong.

I don't disagree. Weather they know it's a movie or not, most younger kids nowadays won't care about the retheme. And I'd argue will be happy to see a more recent theming. I'd prefer it stay, but I'm not the only one in the world and it's happening so I'm excited for it.
Most younger kids don’t care about ride theming or history as much as we do, that doesn’t mean they should change it

It is what it is. It’s just (another) bad decision on disneys part

Also, pulling Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah from the entrance loop on Splash's closing day just seems petty.
Just think they had to pay someone to remove it too.

I guess it doesn’t matter since Josh said there isn’t a shortage of money. I assume that means we should should see lots of new attractions over the next 3-5 years.

Exciting times await.
Right?
