It’s hard to take comments like these seriously when you use the word “fact” in place of “opinion” and then say a bunch of stuff that seems so obviously to be an emotional reaction.

I’m truly sorry for your loss, but do we have to live in Pessimismland?
It’s easier these days to live in Pessimismland than Fantasyland with the things Disney does now

This isn't based off of information, but personally i'd be surprised if they meet the deadline. I think it will probably be pushed into 2025. Even if "late 2024" meant the literal last day of the year, that's still less than 2 years. Even with them having an existing facility to repurpose, seems too tight.

Maelstrom took over a year and eight months to convert to Frozen. And it was a far tinier and lower budget project with minimal effort put in (a huge chunk of its money apparently went into the new facility next door). It also ended up being a very empty and unfinished looking ride as a result.

It's also odd that they would target such an opening date for a ride that soaks at least half of the seats. Unless they intend to alter the track and jets in a way that further controls the soaking.

I think late spring or summer 2025 will be closer to the actual opening date.

I personally don't think they'll meet the late 2024 opening for Disneyland, since they don't even have a closing date for that version yet.

I think they picked a date within a reasonable time frame in order to generate buzz, say they have something to promote in 2024 and confirm that the project was still happening. If it gets pushed into 2025 than it's not a significant delay from the original estimate.

Was at the park today and they still played laughing place at the park entrance. It'll probably go away come Monday. However I rope dropped Splash took as many pictures as I could and enjoyed the story one last time. I also got a few pressed pennies (Disney probably made a fortune off these). Tianas Bayou Adventure has big shoes to fill hopfully this Imagineering team is up to the task.

Both sides of Dis-Twitter on this issue are absolutely disgusting. Going so far as harassment even. Reading some things on there actually made me depressed.
DON'T go on there.
Same an extreme on one side paints all Splash Mountain Fans as terrible people while the other extreme is harassing people who may be excited for Tiana. The mudslinging has to stop. However I have a feeling once the ride closes it will get worse. Then when Tiana opens the vitriol from the theme park community will get an adrenaline shot. Kind of depressing

I wasn’t crying. I was pointing out hypocrisy in decrying DisTwitter as toxic and then coming here and being hostile and negative. Less vitriol is good, but why do we need any at all?

I know people are sad about losing the theming they love, so I understand some people might lash out.

Just a few months... I visited MK in March 1992 on a high school band trip and looked up at Splash Mountain thinking it looked cool, wishing it was open. We are going to be back in June of this year. So, I missed out on experiencing Splash Mountain by just a few months on either end of its existence.

We were there in May 2013 as a shore excursion on a DCL cruise for just one day. With a 4 and 2 year old we were gone from the park by 3:00 and missed it then.

Oh well.. :)

So long, old friend. If you had told me back in 2016 that this would be my final time I would be able to ride Classic Splash, I honestly would’ve called you insane. But, after the fighting and arguing of the last 3 years, it's time to rest now.

If I was sad I think it would be easier to accept this and just hope for the best.

This happens to come across to me as so egregious that I skipped right past sad and landed somewhere between mad and enraged.

If you can make a reasonable argument for why this re-theme is a good idea from a theme park perspective then I’m all ears.

However if you need to include some sort of social or political angle to make your case then that’s when people become justifiably upset.

I really don’t think we can separate out a “theme park perspective” from “some sort of social or political angle” for this. Those are tied together.
