Did we ever get details on why they chose WDW first?

DL is the far better thematic fit, and has the ancient animatronics. Why not leave your WDW options open just in case the response to the ride is way below expectations?
I don’t think Disney wants a 1:1 comparison in the US to exist contemporaneously.

Yes. You can already see the gaslighting from certain segments of DisTwitter to convince us the new ride will be better.
Yeah I feel like they are trying to convince themselves more then anyone else, because of how hard they are arguing that no matter what it'll be better. Truth is no one outside of Disney knows what this ride will be like. Now it is entirely possible that Tianas will be a better ride. 2024 could roll around and we ride Tianas Bayou Adventure and we could be amazed. However that is an incredibly tall order since the current ride is a masterpiece in theme park rides.

As someone who's not on Twitter, I'm curious to see examples of this. I don't recall anyone here arguing such a thing, so it's difficult for to me to imagine the grounds on which the people you're referring to would maintain that the retheme is definitely going to be superior. Can you or someone else link to some representative tweets of this kind?

I'm talking about DIS-Twitter every mention of the ride turns into a Save Splash verses you're racist if you like the ride. It's hot takes among hot takes both sides are annoying.

This website dosen't have that .Of course there are people who are excited about the potential and people who aren't. People who are excited about the potential of retheme give reasons why they are optimistic. Others who are a little weary of it have their reasons. We debate and discuss and it doesn't go into a name calling match. At the end of the day we all just want the best ride possible

No
They want minimal pushback until this thing is done on both coasts. If they opened the DL version way ahead of the WDW version and it underperformed, you would see some pushback for people that were previously pro change. If it opens within a 6 month time frame in both coasts… there’s nothing they can do to change it at that point.

WDW’s version undoubtedly needs more work done to it to make the conversion, which is why it’s being closed first.
All of the concept art released so far has been of the WDW version. I almost wonder if it's taking them longer to figure out the DL version because of the different lengths of the attraction. I previously had a source tell me that the two attractions, while being developed simultaneously, had two different teams working on either coast. DL and WDW Splashes are actually pretty different in length and some of the scenes. There will likely be a few areas of blank wall in at least one of the two versions. And after the nice blank wall we have in GotG:CR, I feel very confident in their ability to include my favorite element of modern Disney attractions.

I don't know if it's because we're two weeks out, but the sadness is really hitting hard now. Feels like a piece of childhood is dying, and I'm not even that old :(
I hope maybe, years in the future, they silently add Zip back to the parks, maybe give the characters a proper series on D+, I don't know.

It just feels wrong.

I want the characters to get a redemption arc. People love them and will miss them when the ride in its current incarnation closes for good. We haven't had too many animated adaptions of the Uncle Remus stories which sucks because they're a perfect mixture of funny and charming, there's so much untapped potential it hurts.

To me, the fact we're two weeks out hits extra hard. because I have a sort of emotional connection with Splash. I don't tell many people this, but Splash/Disney was one of the last things I remember my family being happy while doing before everything in my house went, well, to heck in a handbasket [In forum friendly terms]. Sure, I knew it was coming, but it feels like that one happy memory is being ripped out with the ride.

I guess when I go to Tokyo in May I can ride it again at least. Don't think I'll be going to Disneyland CA soon unfortunately. At least one place in the world seemingly is keeping Splash for now.
