Once they sell out of their existing stock, the characters will, I’m sure, be retired. It is a sign that Disney is willing to profit off those characters just fine.

I feel if they were going to monetise the characters in this way, they would have released some farewell merchandise. Instead, they’re just letting the ride decay without fanfare before they close and retheme it. I seriously doubt we’ll ever see a popcorn bucket.Either way, the point in the now remains.
And don't forget to look for popcorn buckets in the decades to come!
The retheme is confirmed to be happening. There is no way it won't happen.
Over at Disneyland in California, this T-shirt got restocked, and it has Br'er Rabbit on it. I hope this is a good sign.

If this really were the case, we’d see a Mr. Bluebird Shoulder Buddy by now.It is a sign that Disney is willing to profit off those characters just fine.
Mr. Bluebird on my shoulder? Disney take my money please! If this really were the case, we’d see a Mr. Bluebird Shoulder Buddy by now.

This project will almost certainly be delayed by a considerable amount of time.
I thought I just saw a "hey look they fixed some effects on WDW Splash" ride-through video somewhere. At both Disneyland and Disney World or just at WDW?
It's hard for them to delay it much longer at WDW unless they're going to actually spend money on the current attraction. It's essentially falling apart.

Yes there’s many AA’s that are either not working or not 100%, but it’s NOT essentially falling apart…it’s not in danger of killing anyone like El Toro at Six Flags/GA by me…I understand you’re making a point, but now you’re exaggerating just a tad.At both Disneyland and Disney World or just at WDW?

Show-wise, yes it's falling apart. Again, it’s an embarrassment to TWDC, but it’s not falling apart…you’re not riding a regional park’s flume ride with no lights, no music and NO AA movement…I’d give it a C- not an FShow-wise, yes it's falling apart. I think that's what they meant
