The two splash mountains are very different from each other is each version going to have unique scenes and differences?

guess it doesn’t matter because Disney rides now are just empty warehouse buildings with small sets built here and there and a couple of projectors
I literally brought this very point up like 6 months ago and was treated like a malcontent, bad-faith actor and not, you know, someone stating an objective fact. 🙃 I would sort of like both version of the attraction to be different from each other, the carbon copies in every new park or new iteration is tiresome. Like give me a REASON to want to go to a different park.

You would think that. But nothing with this current management gives me any confidence. I truly believe they absolutely don't care about doing it right. I think it's more just get it done so they can say they put Tiana in the park. Doing it right would be bulldoze splash and create an all new original ride.
The last part is "right" but the former not so much. Park the bulldozers and fix the perception the ride generates or doesn't as the case may be but no reason to replace when you can add.

I 100% agree. That's what I have said from the start. I've just given up on Disney coming to their senses. They aren't interested in adding capacity, so the least they can do is give the ride a proper build.

You’re sure?

My vote goes for copy/paste

I agree and it’s going to look bad at WDW when you now float through a barren dark room until you get to the next show scene

the whole difference between a Disney ride and one at another theme park was the wall to wall immersion. Imagineers did the absolute best they could to suck you into the world they were creating but the company doesnt care about that anymore And honestly haven’t in a long time.

I don’t mind carbon copies as I’ve only ever been to WDW, and if I do ever make it to another resort, it would be infrequent enough that there would be plenty new to do. (And I am confident that this rings true for the vast majority of Disney guests).

However, given that these two rides are already different, it would certainly be preferable that they tailor the MK version to the layout that exists there, rather than forcing the DL version into it without modification.

Rethemed rides already suffer from being constrained by the existing build. Retheming a ride using the constraints of a different building basically guarantees a suboptimal product.

I agree, but I'd say doing it right is creating a Tiana ride elsewhere and not reskinning something that's already popular and loved.

if frozen ever after is any inclination....lets hope not.....it was like they spent all the budget on the first scene/expanded track, and then on the second level its barren/empty at best. I hope that does not happen here with this, flat blank walls till you get to the next scene or hidden by curtains. My main problem with this project, theme being bad or good aside, is the fact they are removing a Magic Kingdom icon and one of the iconic mountain ranges and turning it into just a river. The park will be down to two mountains, no longer 3. Its like were going backwards. They dont want anything in these parks any longer that hold any kind of memories for people. Nothing is safe.

"you now float through a barren dark room until you get to the next show scene" - ah, you've ridden DL Pirates. 😬

I believe with FEA, they were just shoehorning a quick overlay into an unpopular ride to capitalize on Frozen's popularity. With Splash, It's an extremely popular ride already. To replace it, It has to be as good or better. On top of that, first ride for a black princess. They can not mess this up.

It may be an unpopular opinion around these doom and gloom boards, but I think Disney comes through on this.

They took 2 years to build it three years after the movie came out....
Not shoehorned just cheap and while the shine was gone from Malstrom it didn't need replacing
Put the movie characters in the movie park

I don't expect Disney to go cheap on the ride, because I agree that they know they need to do it well.

I'm just not sure that current Disney's version of as good or better aligns with what I'd think is as good or better.

How can you replace something and make it better when its in glory it was already perfect and arguably one of the best all around attractions in Florida that had everything? They let the ride rot to make the comparisons look better and last i checked its the same ride just an overlay… you really going to find something more catchy that singing Zippie Doo Da? Had any insiders here a potential of using the PotC tech for this new ride?

I expect the overlay to look a hell of a lot better at Disneyland than it will at WDW. I've already sort-of mapped out how it might look in my head so there's that:

  • The beginning scene with Br'er Fox and Br'er Bear will be altered to include Tiana and the prince's boat over the shallow bit of water Br'er Bear currently hovers over. Goin' Down The Bayou will play here.
  • Louis will likely be where Br'er Rabbit and Br'er Terrapin are now.
  • The Laughin' Place will likely be replaced with the salt mine they discussed in several of those "research" videos. Dig A Little Deeper will play here.
  • While I doubt Dr. Facilier will make an appearance here, the dumb redneck hunters from the film will probably make an appearance in some shape or form as the main antagonists of the ride.
  • No idea what they plan on doing with Chickapin Hill besides potentially converting it into Mama Odie's home, but good luck making it look convincing.
  • Showboat scene is def staying, if the boat's name isn't kept as Zip-A-Dee-Lady to pay homage to the original attraction I'll riot. Original song composed specifically for the ride will definitely appear here.
The thing is the DL version is already a bayou so the changes to show scenery won't be too dramatic. WDW's more closely resembles Song of the South's animated sequences and depending on how you look at it it's either a major advantage or a major detriment if you're looking to tear the entire thing down and make it look all bayou-y.

Put the movie characters in the movie park? Movie characters like Snow White, Peter Pan, Ariel, Belle and the Beast, Pooh, and Cinderella? Boy, it’s a good thing they don’t have any rides or restaurants in the Magic Kingdom.
