And if only SWGE was based on that movieNo, but an important movie from 1977 comes into view about now...
And, there it is! ... That's no Moon!

I think the reception to that comment has more to do with the notion that has been tossed around that the Brer Rabbit stories can’t be separated from the 1946 movie. They absolutely can, as the uncomfortable elements aren’t even relevant to the ride, and if they wanted to remove all specific references to the movie (music and character designs) while still keeping it themed to Brer Rabbit, they absolutely could. Disney just doesn’t care to.I also am puzzled by the combative/over the defensive tone of this conversation. All I said was that the story of Splash Mountain is easier to understand if you had already seen SotS or were already familiar with the Brer Rabbit stories. Somehow people took that as an attack on the ride!
Said by literally nobody. "Disney Star Wars" is a tiny, sad embarrassed child standing on the shoulders of the original trilogy giant that just pathetically mimics, copies, and regurgitates the original trilogy relying on appearances of Luke, Han, Leia, Chewbacca, Yoda, etc. to give it any point at all.But then all the Millennials would be freaking out with "That's not MY Star Wars!!"

Considering millennial era stops in 1996, I’m sure most are them are the ones yelling “that’s not my Star Wars” to the currently represented saga as we at the time hated the prequels and loved the originals as our parents may have even influenced us.But then all the Millennials would be freaking out with "That's not MY Star Wars!!" and if it were based on the ( ) prequels then people like me would gripe about the land. If it were based on the sequels everyone would lose their minds.
Who are these kids you are talking too? Do you consider 26 years old to be a kid or do you have your generations confused? Or am I the lost one? LolSaid by literally every single "kid" that I talk to about the prequels. They love them and cannot stand the originals. Sad children.
I'm 50. Maybe I am confused. (Where's my statin meds?) I know that those that grew up when the prequels came out love them and think the originals were garbage. I think the prequels are garbage. We ALL think the sequels are garbage.Considering millennial era stops in 1996, I’m sure most are them are the ones yelling “that’s not my Star Wars” to the currently represented saga as we at the time hated the prequels and loved the originals as our parents may have even influenced us.
Millennials cannot help help what their children enjoy though. The youngest millennial is turning 26 this year.

It is insanely clear to you. Not everyone. It wasn’t to me but to be fair, I never cared to figure it out either.I struggle to realize why some people in this site get confused when people defend attractions.
It is a Walt Disney World fan site. People here are insanely attached to things and will debate about rides and theories to no end. It is no different than a Harry Potter fandom, or being overly obsessed with football players. It is contentious because this is literally what we do here. Lol. There is no other place for us to debate this kind of stuff with because nobody in the real world cares. So, here we are. A bunch of Disney nuts.
For the record, I disagree about agreeing to disagree. I still think it is ridiculous if someone cannot pick up the plot of Splash Mountain. It is insanely clear.

They had such potential with the sequels and they took too many suggestions from Lucas. They should have gone with the Timothy Zahn stuff and not de-cannoned the EU.
The music. And the atmosphere. It’s so unique. I’ve only been on that version once, yet I dream about it all of the time.ANYWAY, what is the best version of Splash Mountain and why is it the original Disneyland? jussstttttt kidding.
Maybe.
While I think that WDW has a way better lead up and chase than Disneyland does (like Brer Fox and Brer Bear chasing Brer Rabbit over the mountain, I wish Disneyland had that so badly), Disneyland reminds me more of the Catfish Bend books, where a lot of inspiration for Disneyland's come from. I just read High Water at Catfish Bend, and I really wish Disney had done something with this that included the Brers. The music. And the atmosphere. It’s so unique. Honestly, the music is the best part of Splash Mountain — more so than the use of the Brer Rabbit stories. So I can see why if Disney was abandoning ties to SotS it would do away with the Brer Rabbit theme altogether.I think the reception to that comment has more to do with the notion that has been tossed around that the Brer Rabbit stories can’t be separated from the 1946 movie. The plot is relatively simple and easy to pick up on. Though I will admit that it is more difficult to pick up on than a movie, such is usually the case with the theme park ride medium (particularly dark rides and thrill rides). I’m sure most have had issues picking up on the plot for rides like Pirates or Mansion. It’s easier to pick up on repeat rides, enhancing the appreciation for those attractions.
Must say that I will definitely miss the music from Splash Mountain. I don't know if this is a controversial take, but I think PatF has a pretty weak soundtrack. They keep including PatF songs in their nighttime spectaculars, but I have wondered how many people at the end of Harmonious, for example, are excited to hear the classic Dig a Little Deeper or remember more than that line when walking out the front gate afterwards.Honestly, the music is the best part of Splash Mountain — more so than the use of the Brer Rabbit stories. While I support the retheme to Princess and the Frog, the one thing I will definitely miss about the OG Splash Mountain is the music. The Princess and the Frog has a decent soundtrack, but it doesn't have songs nearly as catchy as "How Do You Do," "Everybody's Got a Laughing Place" and "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah."
I think "Almost There" and "Friends on the Other Side" are both great songs. Not as good as the ones on Splash Mountain, but very solid. Going to Take you There/Going Down the Bayou is a lot of fun and the song that would best suit a Splash Mountain retheme.Must say that I will definitely miss the music from Splash Mountain. I think the only thing that saves the PATF songs is the singers. I don't think Randy Newman is a good song writer or singer. Even some of the lyrics in Almost There are...reductive. I think the singers and arrangements save what otherwise would not be good.Despite getting two Oscar nominations for its songs, I don't think this take is controversial at all. Most people seem meh on the music.
Having said that, the PatF segment of Mickey and the Wonderous Book at HKDL was arguably the show's highlight and I liked the movie's float in Soundsational.
I'd say the soundtrack is good, but it is on the lower end of the Disney Princess soundtracks. If I were to rank the music of the princess movies:Despite getting two Oscar nominations for its songs, I don't think this take is controversial at all. Most people seem meh on the music.
