I don't know where she thought she was going but she was definitely getting out of the seat. They stopped our elevator and told her to sit back down several times but she could not get back under the safety bar. Then they slowly lowered the elevator and took us all off. It was amazing how fast the CM's stopped the ride. They actually halted us in mid fall. If they hadn't the crazy woman could have really gotten hurt. After they took us all off, they offered any of us that wanted to ride again an immediate return ride.

Did they escort the woman to the park exit?

In general, people are stooooopid!

No kidding. When I worked for the YES Program, we had two members of our groups get "scared" and jump out of the log right before the final drop (they landed on a safety platform). I had a hard time understanding why if they are scared, they decided to jump OUT of a two ton log. Kids these days.

I can't believe that. I'm sitting here laughing my buttocks off that someone would just say "Ok, I've had enough" and get up! They say stay seated for a reason. "Like, DUH!"

I know! I don't know the exact details to this next story, but it had happened a few years ago on Splash Mountain. This guy got out of the log and was, I guess, scared or something. He slipped on the log and was knocked unconscious and fell into the water. I guess he jumped out after one of the drops, so the next log didn't have time to stop from coming down....I heard this story both when I was a lifeguard and from some of the MK Managers. Stay in your seats, people!

I believe it happens because people panic (sp?). They are not thinking straight when they decide it will be safer to jump out of the boat, than to suffer the flume. They don´t realize how deep the water could be and most importantly, how strong the water is with so many pumps or whatever mechanism the rides have. I guess they see the emergency "exit" signs, and they just decide to use them! Again, I believe it´s a consequence of the panic they are experiencing, and I think that they don´t even realize the cast members could be calling them on the speakers, cause they are decided to jump out and that´s all they are focusing at.

I am not surprised to read about people jumping out of logs in the water rides, specially in Splash Mountain, that has many quiet moments of "floating" around the ride. However, I am surprised to read about the lady trying to get out of the elevator in ToT!! wow!

When I was on Splash Mountain when I was 4, it broke down and the lights went on because we where in the dark. it scared me to death, partly because the people behind us where screaming we where going to die.

There was a boy killed on the Log Chute flume ride in Camp Snoopy at the Mall of America within the last couple years. I honestly don't know if he just stood up in the log to be funny or if he was scared and trying to get out. Ever since, the ride operators keep their eyes peeled for anyone making a wrong move. Part of the ride goes by a food court and you can hear the operators yelling, "sit down!" quite often. I'm truely suprised at how often they have to say that! Just so sad.

The story I heard from a couple of CM was the guy got out of the boat ride before going into the laughing place. He was trying to get a picture with Brer Bear. And slipped getting back in his log and the next log pushed him down the laughing place hill and ran him over.
I guess there are sensors everywhere on the ride but where this guy wanted to take a picture there are no sensors because brer bear is moving and would set off the sensor.

Just stay in your seats and there is no need to take pictures with the characters on the ride.

1. I think that our two stories coincide. That sounds about right.
2. I hate to be a jerk here, but sometimes I think that this is just natural selection at work. If anyone's read the Darwin Awards, you can empathize with me.

This also goes along with a topic discussed in another thread about how some people just don't listen and feel that they are immune to anything bad happening to them just because they're at WDW. Running in front of parade floats, standing up in boats, not keeping hands and arms in side the vehicle at all times....etc.
Then they're actually suprised when they get hurt.
