Do we know the closing dates yet?

Does anyone who works at Disney know when these new safety things are to be installed? Those of us who are going soon really want to know!!! thanks.

Thanks... but now that I know when SM should reopen, I need to know when it will close!!! Will it be open 4/27-5/5? It's my favorite ride!

Another reason for the delay is this: (from interpark.co.uk)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disney delays refurbishments

Disney’s Chairman and Chief Executive, Michael Eisner, stated in the 2001 annual report that the group’s recent period of theme park expansion was almost done. He has also pledged that its troubled television network will see an improved performance.
Mr. Eisner is under pressure following four years of disappointing share results. The stock fell almost 30 per cent in 2001.

As with many theme park operations worldwide, a cooling global economy and fears of terrorism have had a severe impact on business. These, said Mr. Eisner, were sufficient reasons to delay planned refurbishments, though he was confident that visitors would return when the economy revives.

However, he acknowledged that the recently expanded Disneyland Resort in California, complete with the Adventure park, had failed to meet projections in a year of difficult circumstances.
Meanwhile, ABC, Disney’s underperforming television network won a temporary stay of execution after satellite provider EchoStar threatened to pull the plug on ABC Family.

ABC, which led all networks in the US in 2000, has fallen behind rivals NBC and CBS and Mr. Eisner has also committed to rectifying this.

People are morons.

The last time I was on SM (in WDW), some idiot(s) ruined the ride 3 times by standing up in the logs. That's 3 times during the course if 1 RIDE ALONE that the music stopped and the little voice came over the speaker, telling everyone to behave and, for God's sake, sit down. The first time, you can't believe somebody is that stupid. The second time, you're getting pretty irritated. The third time-- I better stop here!:brick:

Logic Dispatch Systems

quote "the park is installing new "Logic Dispatch Systems" to more closely control the start at several of its rides. One feature of the new system is that it requires two employees at separate controls to set the ride in motion, compared with one who acts individually now. Among the first rides to get the new controls in the next few weeks or months will be Splash Mountain, Tower of Terror, and It's a Small World."

Don't rides like Space Mountain/Pirates, and BTMRR already have this type of system in place? I see a CM on the loading platform pushing a botton, and I see a CM in the tower. What does the CM in the tower do, if they aren't dispatching vehicals?

Anyone have any insight?

The people in the tower moniter the ride while it is in progress but the CMs at the controls at the station start the ride.
