 Vertical impairment, that's what my Mother calls it.

Yeah, even when you walk on, just stop at one of the bends in the queue and make sure you are squared away, glasses, pins and the like. Besides that, there's no problem, really, save for the fact that my Dad and I (Same height) are always glared at my the CM who tells us to get in quicker as my leg cramps up in the log. :lookaroun

You are a perfect example of how lap bars might be a hindrance here on the US version of the mountain. Not too many 6'-2" Hong Kongers, but lots of you giants here. Just how is this going to work? I can't wait to see a mock-up log.

It could be the end of anyone over 6' riding this ride.

There will be a sign at the entrance "You must be under 72" to ride this attraction."

Here's a good shot of a pretty empty SM track:

That would be called a "flume." The boats float in the flume and the only actual "track" sections are on the lifts and the hills. It's the truth and it's factual! :animwink:

Gee, thanks!

True, though it would be a hinderance...but...

....If THIS were to happen, SHEESH. Either I would cram myself into a Log, or there would be one VERY angry, "giant" Explorer in City Hall. And eMailing. And Twittering. And Blogging.

that won't happen, though...Will it?

If we let it work. Unfortunately we have made the world so stupid proof that stupid adults are surviving to produce even stupider kids.

The Kessel Run was an 18-parsec route used by smugglers to move glitterstim spice from Kessel to an area south of the Si'Klaata Cluster without getting caught by the Imperial ships that were guarding the movement of spice from Kessel's mines. Han Solo claimed that his Millennium Falcon "made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs". Solo was not referring directly to his ship's speed when he made this claim. Instead, he was referring to the shorter route he was able to travel by skirting the nearby Maw black hole cluster, thus making the run in under the standard distance. By moving closer to the black holes, Solo managed to cut the distance down to about 11.5 parsecs.
I will NEVER doubt your SW knowledge ever again. I bow down to thee.

Thanks for the pics!

Here are some photos http://www.wdwmagic.com/Attractions...y/09Jan2010-Splash-Mountain-refurbishment.htm

Interesting that they have built a temporary bridge linking the lift to a service road for easy access. This is one fairly substantial refurb!
Thanks for the pics Steve.

Anything that makes them smoother, they are VERY lurchy and bumpy as it is.
Holy Cow. There is the one lift that always seems to drop the back of the boat about 2 or 3 inches... just enough to make my bum really hurt. :D

Always the one that gets you up and out of the loading area that is really rough for us.

"You must be between 44" and 72" to enjoy this ride."

Safety - Courtesy - Show - Efficiency

Safety first! Even if that means they deny you the courtesy of a ride. Discrimination? Perhaps. Possible? With the current decision makers at the helm......:lookaroun

Of course, of course, but they REALLY would be limiting the demographic of the ride. :fork: :lookaroun

Well, here's a shot of track right next to the first pic, so I thought they must have already taken the old track out in the first photo. Sorry to be less than 100% accurate.

Wow. Thanks for the VERY helpful insight, Kirsten. Apparently, you've been a "button-pusher" for far too long at Splash :p

I would say that they need to put more signage up in the queue, explaining ho important it is to GET IN AND SIT DOWN FAST, but it would be a waste of time and effort. Too many stupid and inconsiderate people....and the rest of us already understand, to a level, how rides work (it's all about timing).

Thanks!

No prob! And I may have pushed a button or two there... :p

Easier said than done when you are 6'2- 6'3...Those logs are a tight fit, and the CMs always want to rush you.

Like I said, it's not wanting to rush anyone - it's wanting to prevent the whole ride from stopping!

That being said, CMs do see when it's someone legitimately having a tough time trying to get in as fast as possible. I can't speak for other CMs, but personally, if I saw someone was making every attempt to get in as quickly as their body would allow, I didn't push. It was only when I saw what seemed to be "dawdling" that I spoke up and asked people to move quickly. And believe me, there are those of us that understand the tall thing. :p I'm only a puny 5'9", but we do have one CM that's 6'9"...

It could be the end of anyone over 6' riding this ride.

I don't know about a height restriction, but somewhere, Gabriel Iglesias is going to be crying in a corner.

I don't know that it's technically called a track... possibly... but that's actually a brake, believe it or not, referred to as the "drop 4 brake." During emergency stops and power disconnects (whether manual or automatic), that whole section is actually lifted up. So if a log is coming down the big drop, it will be lifted up out of the water by that strip, bringing it to a rather sudden stop. So if you're walking by and you see a log sitting on that brake, the attraction is down, and 99% of the time it's an automatic evacuation (unless that log is empty) because it will have to be physically pushed out of the brake.

Very interesting. I eat up this technical info about rides.

If I were to win the lottery and not need a job, I'd move to FL and be a button pusher on every ride on property....and I'd learn every nut and bolt on every ride. I just love that stuff - no matter how simple and mundane it is!

Beating and spanking seems to be the same thing to people, but not to me. I got whippings coming up, and won't bring up my kids any differently.

So, you will beat your kids? Because spanking IS beating your kids. You are physically harming them.

I totally disagree with this method of parenting. I couldn't imagine how I would of grown up if my parents laid a hand on me- I would think totally differently of them.

It's not worth it in my eyes- or the law's.
