Question. Why does Disney feel the need to falsify it's product so badly in it's commercials? Some TV ad's show princesses running up to hug your child on a crowd-less Main Street U.S.A. Others show a grass field in front of the castle where (with absolutely NO wait whatsoever), you just walk right up to greet a handful of characters all waiting to see you. And now you have this: Turbo Seven Dwarfs coaster which seems to be a faster ride than RnRC. What gives? If Disney is the #1 tourist destination on the globe, why can't it have the confidence to advertise it's product for what it truely is?
7DMT is a slower-moving family coaster appropriate for smaller children. No shame in that at all.

It's the same reason that when Pirates was being shown to the audiences of Walt's Disneyland TV show, they added extra fire and explosions via animation to the ride footage. It's all about marketing. Disney of today isn't doing anything that Disney of old didn't do first.

The quoted tweet explicitly said "C&Ding use of the word brony".

So I'll ask again, how can they do that if they don't own the rights.
Here's a letter sent by Hasbro's legal counsel to a fan site a year or two ago.

None of which has anything to do with the tweet you posted. C&Ding the use of the word "brony" is different from asking them to remove actual copyrighted material from a fansite. So I'll ask for a THIRD time, how can they C&D anyone of the use of an un-copyrighted word?

Association with their IP. I think @flynnibus pretty much covered it.

The topic isn't so much over using the word... But is about haasbro cracking down on the community. What they go after is the use of the images, copyrighted material, etc. in effect, if you become 'undesirable'... All the graces you had before .. Can disappear. That was the point I believe :)

Just think how many blogs use Disney imagery, copyrighted or trademarked names, slogans, music, etc.
Especially sites that are set up as businesses that say sell ads, sell forum subscriptions or sell fan art/merchandise.

It would be trademark, not copyright. Even then, neither trademark nor copyright requires registration.

You can focus on the word or the message. Understand the context. It's been laid out here the purpose of the quote. I can't force the horse to drink

It's inclusion here was not about the validity of a claim - but about the company changing how it approaches those attached fan enterprises and communities

See the grander message dude

I never understood MLP much less guys that were INTO MLP.

Does Hasbro sell "My Little Brony" merchandise? If not then they don't own the term "Brony".

Disney cannot C&D us from using the term Disney either.

Like what?

Chaos. Confusion. Poorly behaving guests. Thousands of people in lines.

Similar to Friday the 13th
What do they expect... it's about Villains.

I wasn't there at midnight.

It's my opinion that the coaster more appeals to adults. That's all. And it's my opinion that they made a mistake targeting it towards children. I don't know why you want to question just an opinion.
Not to open up any wounds here but, this is getting confusing to me, or perhaps it is explaining my frustrations. The same people that are constantly stating that it is a kiddie ride are upset because they make a promotional piece that shows the illusion that the train is going faster then it should. So just who are they marketing toward at this point. I'd have to guess, the general public.

In short, I don't necessarily think that they (Disney) ever targeted it toward children. We, however, have gone out of our way to do just that. What a conundrum!
