From a recent Q&A with Jay Rasoli:
1152 am: An audience question is why don’t they spin-off the parks business and license their properties to a third party. This question seems to get Jay mad. He says the parks are not a hospitality business, they are an experience business and is deeply integrated with the storytelling of the company.

Seems like WDW1974 might have been misinformed about Disney inquiring about selling the parks a few years back.

Interesting how a sizable percentage of the Disney world demo comes from the Philadelphia area.

Significant enough that when schools are out there or jersey, attendance is impacted dramatically.

Saw this, thought of you.

Or Jay, who's contempt for theme parks is well known, just knows what to say.

Honestly Tom Staggs seems far worse than Rasolu. At least with Rasolu we got a steady stream of content from the DCA redo to Star Tours 2 to New Fantasyland. Not a single attraction has been announced under Staggs aside from adding the seven dwarf mine train to Fantasyland (good choice but way too short) and a vague 2011 announcement about an Avatar Land coming to Disney parks starting with DAK.

Staggs game is to just let the parks go stale and get promoted to CEO before the huge decline in attendance when everyone stops going.

I've never been one to sing praise for Staggs. He was Rasulo's boss at Strategic Planning.

Things Rasulo DID:
  1. Shut down MAPO and curtailed use of AAs in new rides
  2. Put Bruce Vaughn and Craig Russell in charge of WDI with a mandate to shrink the division yet costs for attractions have never been higher and other not so good things
  3. Forced Matt Ouimet out of DLR
  4. Greenlit NextGen/MyMagic+
Things Rasulo was FORCED to do by others:
  1. DCA 2.0 (Iger, Ouimet, BoD, John Lasseter)
  2. Star Wars 2.0 (Iger)
  3. HKDL Expansion (HK Legislature)

Don't forget the City of Anaheim considering changes to the Resort Area right before the decision to invest in Disney's California Adventure. While none of that ever happened, Anaheim was concerned that Disney had given up on Disneyland Resort and could not be depended on for continued investment into the area. All of the big, exciting investment into Walt Disney Parks and Resorts has been pushed by players outside of The Walt Disney Company.

Just reminder kids… Main gate admission as well as cast ID admission is blacked out at both Disney's Hollywood Studios and the Magic Kingdom for the three-day memorial weekend.

No, I have no flipping idea why the studios are blacked out as well.
