Well, true, but many still remain in the closet. And a young leading man girls fawn over won't be coming out of the closet anytime soon. But yes, things have changed a lot. I've still read and heard Hollywood isn't as accepting as they want everyone to believe.
Indeed. There is still a stigma about it that keeps the closet packed pretty tight (Travolta probably taking up half of it...).

As for young Lautner...his situation is no mystery among certain circles. Not that there's anything wrong with that...but it would likely devastate his career.

I'm glad you enjoyed while I was doing it! There is so much more to all of this than anyone will ever know. The people I've met, the places I've been, the things I've seen it was just amazing. But all good things must come to an end eventually, and I can assure everyone it was my choice to step back and get priorities in life in order. The whole crackdown thing on social media or its fans by Universal is a little harsh. While yes their no where near the level of media and or public relations as Disney was 5 years ago but things are improving.

Universal realized several faults and is fixing things for the better. Many people complained about the severe crackdown on construction photography and Universal listened to the complaints. Not saying its all 100% fixed but the improvement is noticeable. Finally I can assure everyone that most at Universal Creative are without a doubt fans of their fans and love to see picture updates of the work they do. If everyone saw what I saw, heard what I heard, and so on we wouldn't be having this conversation nor MANY others across numerous threads and sites.
Oh, really? From what I have seen, it seems as if Universal will take drastic, almost unethical steps to crap on their biggest fans.

I think Adventure was probably one of the best if not the best game on Atari. Haunted House was entertaining.

Ah yes...a classic from the early days indeed !
I enjoy *Adventure* still.

Agree regarding *Haunted House*.
A fun little game with some neat game concepts for that time.
It is still fun to play..and bump around in the dark with.
I will admit...i think part of the appeal of it for me was pretending that i was playing a video game version of The Haunted Mansion.

Top faves of original Atari 2600 cart games that have stood the test of time for me would be :

Defender
Joust
Centipede
Asteroids
Ms. Pac-Man
Dig Dug
Space Invaders
Phoenix
Missile Command

I'd add several Activision titles (Robot Tank, Pitfall) and many of the Starpath games to that list. Vanguard and Jungle Hunt I spent many hours playing; The first 2600 Pac-Man was poor, with Ms. Pac-Man better, but by the time Atari released the really excellent Junior Pac-Man the world had moved on.

Now, if only they'd surprisingly unearth some Cosmos prototypes in that landfill... :geek:

So...if I may ask...where does that leave you (in general...not prying) as far as talking about your hobby of talking everything Universal? Where is the line?

Adventure had one of the first, if not THE frist, easter egg in a video game. If you put the sword, chalice and something else in the far right hand wall you would go through it and see a credit of the game creator. Big deal back then.

The something else was a "micro dot". Then you could go through the wall and see the words "Created by Warren Robinett". Loved that game.

I know you've got the munchkin now, so completely understand. It was a fun ride while it lasted tho. BTW, that offer of a beer the next time you find the Poor Judgment Crew in Finns still stands.

Random observations from a post-Spring Break Saturday in MK:
  • Arrived to find the monorails down. Two ferries alone simply can't handle even an average day at MK. Worse, once at the main gate, the left half of ticket turnstiles were blocked off. Took 90 minutes to get from Sea Dog in LBV to MSUSA--and that was with the best parking space I've had in years! Heresy around these parts, but a parking garage with walking access to MK should have been built somewhere by 2002.
  • Felt busier than post-Easter Saturday should have. Friends arrived minutes before me, were parked on grass. Later, the crowd coming in around 6:30 looked like Christmas, just a mob scene.
  • Lines for the old Mickey D's fry stand were at least 25 people deep on either side. Lines at every Sunshine Pavilion register were 30 deep. So, of course, Tortuga Tavern was closed. Not that you would know that without walking up--fully 75% of the tables were in use, one of the few shady places to sit in the entire park.
  • Trash everywhere, in line queues, in walkways, overflowing from cans. Bad enough my friends and I commented on it. On out way out, a survey taker stopped and asked us specifically about how clean the parks were, and if/where we saw trash. Sounds like TDO cut some custodial shifts, trying to see if anyone notices. Gotta pay for MM+ somehow!
  • This last one is not WDW's fault (well, maybe tangentially), but there's nothing sadder than seeing young children clearly beaten down by the 90-degree sun sitting on a curb looking crest-fallen. Honestly, I think it's akin to child abuse. I don't care if you dropped $100 per ticket, take them back to the hotel and let them enjoy some a/c, or at least the pool!

We are at the point where WDW needs its own Al Lutz.

I'm not sure current management would care about a passionate blogger for WDW. They've got an army of bloggers at the ready to shout down any such "doom and gloomer."

Moreover, they see the audience for WDW as being entirely different from that of DLR and they treat it that way. Rizzo was certainly prescient when he said "They're tourists...what do they know?" TDO must say that same thing every morning.

The bloggers will do that of their own volition.

Disney will simply ignore any problems and pretend it didn't happen.

If I can link to this ... this is still available: http://www.mouseplanet.com/shame/ it's worth checking out what DL was like during the Pressler/Harriss era. (And I'm not saying we see paint peeling, etc. but the way things are generally run sounds oddly familiar). http://www.mouseplanet.com/archive/update1.htm (those are the old Al updates. A very interesting read, just keep putting 2/3/4, etc. in place of the 1 to see other older updates)

But most bloggers aren't even posting the bad. It's all sunshine and roses.

But I agree they wouldn't care and would probably find a way to block that blogger from ever going into the park and having the website shut down. Wouldn't surprise me.

The thing is, Sunshine Terrace isn't a meal. For every tourist who stands in line, I bet there's one who doesn't, effectively costing the Mouse money. It should be easy for guests to buy high-margin things like ice cream and soda.
