Interesting.......I guess I wouldn't expect anything earth shattering coming from the call. Just a rehash of a rehashed rehash. As much as I dislike the Avatar land/attraction or what ever it will be I think that the die hard fans will just froth over it. Why? Because there isn't anything else to get excited about. Even the most ardent fans are not going to get all worked up over MM-.......Lets take a look at MM- and what it will mean to the guest......

Ability to reserve a limited number of rides and attractions

Ok that's it for me.....anybody got anything else?......I am dead serious. Tap and pay? Is it really that much of a "game changer" from what we had? Opening our room doors? Was there some kind of problem opening doors before? I have thought about this for months.....EXACTLY what real benefit does this program do for me? What is the "game changer"? A character having the ability to know my name? Guy opening the resort front door? I know its been beat to death but I rather talk about this then strollers or obesity. I have no problem with either. I am not obese but I did get weird looks from other guest because my son was in a stroller.....maybe its because he is 6'3" and weighs about 230 but that's beside the point.

74 is MIA, I suppose he went to LA for the Emmy's?......Maybe he was in that party bus with Jacoby Jones? For someone who started this thread he sure is AOL a lot. The most poignant point made by Iger was that MM_ poison was going to be spread to the other parks. Hey Left coast.....you all ready for this? You swore it wasn't going to happen......well welcome to the new Mickey Mouse club....oh of course Magic Band optional.

Left coast here...I don't like the idea of MM bands, or MDE coming this way, at all.

I've read for a long time about the differences between left coast and east coast and the clout that westerners have to get changes made, affect park operations, etc.

Accepting that at face value because it makes sense to me, I wonder how effectively the DLers will be able to resist/fight MM-. I mean, I have to believe you folks on the Pacific have the same problem opening doors and paying for trinkets that we in the East have.

I'm not sure what's funnier: the article or the comment section...

"In the book of Revelation, it says that in the last days, no one will be able to buy or sell without the mark of the beast on their hands and on their foreheads. Disney tends to lead in new technologies for handling large groups of people, and this is scarey in how close it's getting to having something on your hand with which you buy and sell. Could it be the mark of the beast is the mark of the Mouse?"

Orlando Sentinel article about what Iger told a group of analysts at a Goldman Sachs conference.

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/os-disney-mymagic-avatar-20130924,0,3588532.story

------
The chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Co. said Tuesday the company's billion-dollar-plus MyMagic+ system will roll out to all Walt Disney World guests "fairly soon," though he stopped short of committing to a precise date.

"It's rolling out fully in the months ahead," Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger told analysts during a conference hosted by Goldman Sachs in New York. "It'll be fully rolled out fairly soon."

Disney executives have previously said they hope to have the central elements of MyMagic+ — which is built around rubber wristbands, known as "MagicBands," with radio-frequency identification microchips embedded in them — by the first quarter of their 2014 fiscal year, which begins next month.

Giving visitors the ability to guarantee they will experience their favorite attractions without hour-plus standby lines "is a big deal and a game changer, we believe, in terms of the park experience," Iger said.

He said the plan is to eventually expand MyMagic+ to Disney's other theme-park resorts around the world. "It's a complex project," he said. "We're starting with Florida because of the scale that Florida gives us."

Iger also expressed confidence in the yet-to-be-built Avatar Land planned for Disney's Animal Kingdom. Disney has provided few details about the project since announcing it two years ago, and fan interest has been tepid on some Disney Internet forums.

"We're very excited about Avatar Land," Iger said. "I think that will generate substantial growth down there."

-------

I'm sure that makes all of you feel better about Avatarland.
I don't know why, but after reading that, a certain Loony Toons rabbit came to mind staring in a opera and co-staring a certain hunter and a duck (not Donald). Hold, I'll be right back with a link in YouTube, if I can find it.

Make no mistake, there is absolutely nothing that Al Lutz and company can do to prevent elements of the NextGen Experience from coming to the Disneyland Resort. It's happening. RFID door locks and tickets are a no-brainer. The new reservations system is being rolled out as we speak. And as far as those Magic Bands? Those might happen too. If they do roll them out in California, then they had better fix a lot of the issues with them. But even if you don't see a full Florida Style Magic Band Rollout in California, you can bet elements of the program will come anyway. And that's just the way it is.

Mine was too that you commented on. I'm a little disappointed you didn't catch it.

Please don't let it happen again.
I have difficulty understanding sarcasm via Internet text. When I post sarcastic posts I usually explicitly state it's sarcasm point blank. Otherwise I assume it's genuine, That's just how my brain works.

Pretty much all of @flynnibus ' posts have been sarcastic. Satire. It's best to assume that she means the opposite of what you read. :bookworm:

All the rock and art festivals in Europe nowadays feature Magic Wristbands. You use them for entrance, to buy stuff, to connect with social media, and all the things Dinsey will implement too.

Kool kids love it. They leave on the wristbands back to university just to show what summer festivals they've visited. We here are just a bunch of unbelievably old farts sitting around scared of 2011 technology.

...and Avatar Land is going to be a big succes too. I may not personally need an outside IP franchise in DAK, but I fully expect AvLand to be a succes. Unless Cameron messes up with the new Avatar trilogy, to who's fate Avatar Land is tied.
