Disney Movie Updates...

Finding Dory is now pushed back to 6/17/2016!!! Original release date of 11/25/2015

The Good Dinosaur is now pushed back into Dorys old slot of 11/25/2015. Original release date of 5/30/14

Maleficent go pushed up from 7/2/2014 now being released 5/30/2014.

AntMan pushed up to 7/31/2015. Original release date of 11/6/2015

Last but not least, the Phineas and Ferb Movie which was suppose to be released sometime in 2014 is now TBD along with Johnny's Pirates with a TBD date as well...

Major changes??? What gives?

I think these are good, smart moves. I think folks are paying attention to the gripes on Pixar quality and rethinking releases that are under-baked. Star Wars remains the biggest mystery...don't see how they will release it in 2015.

It might help if these blockbusters were better movies. For me, it was just the fact that many of these movies released this summer weren't very good. These movies don't have to be the second coming of Citizen Kane, they just have to be enjoyable. By that I mean, did I enjoy it enough to buy it later. Only 2 or 3 movies fit that bill all summer.

Personally speaking, I haven't been able to shell out $20 at a time on movies. A few years ago, before my pay became stagnant, my utilities prices went up, my rent went up... I had money to spend on movies. Now? I don't.

I don't think I'm the norm but it could be one reason why sales for the summer are down.

I don't make time for so-so movies given the cost. When I was a kid and you could go to a movie for $5, we went all the time b/c it wasn't much money. Nowadays, I'm much more choosey. Next on my list is Catching Fire. Saving Mr. Banks looks promising.

Exactly. Sorry, I should have stated that. :) Years ago spending $5, $10 on a movie wasn't a big deal. Now I'm a lot more aware of funding and the movie has to really WOW me with trailers, storyline, etc for me to actually see it in a theater. Otherwise, it's DVD, or TPB...

So its been a while but still only two major things of note for WDW parks right? Star Wars and Unobtainium Land - until TWDC that has a Board that has a clue and the three stooges are kicked out of TWDC right? Just checking.

They won't be kicked out. They'll jump out of TWDC plane with a beautiful 24K parachute.

Iger exercises incredible control over Disney's BOD. Even after the situation with Eisner, Disney shareholders and Wall Street only weakly protested Iger assuming both CEO and COB titles in October 2011. With well over a $3B stock buyback this year (so far) and up to another $8B announced for the future, the stock price will remain propped up. It's all about the stock price and Iger knows that.

Like Eisner before him, Iger has nearly absolute control and, without Eisner's personal flaws of insulting those in positions of influence, there will be no "Save Disney" campaign. Disney's Old Guard is dead and buried.

The Walt Disney Company is now the epitome of corporate America.

Nothing will change unless Iger wants it to change.
I'll take it a step further. If Iger came over to our side and decided he wanted to dump a boat load of cash into WDW he would face a much greater possibility of being run out by the BOD. Like you said Iger is managing the stock price which is exactly what the BOD wants him to do.

Apparently, many folks on the BoD also have IBS given the number of toilets they've added to WDW of late.

The BoD would rather have a resort running on 6 cylinders with no smoke and making an obscene amount of cash then 2 cylinders and plumes of smoke though.

You have to spend money to make money, they just aren't spending it on the correct things to use as 'draw' to get folks to visit.

I just didn't see anything worth while to see. Just as soon get with Netflix.

There was a mention on the one blog (the one by Niles) that there is going to also be a smaller addition to DHS, but that it hasn't been decided exactly what. I'm guessing that some sort of Pixar attraction will be added, even though a full Cars Land would not.
