One Little Spark...
It's really more just lake front than legitimate swampland, like Walt Disney World.

But I can tell you that Adrian and co are more than satisfied with the attendance numbers they are pulling. There's always room for improvements, but some of the recent additions and scheduled additions are moving faster than originally forecasted.
Chima was well done. It's still not Disney or even Universal level themeing. I can't speak to Sea World, as I haven't been there in over a decade (maybe next trip).

I could certainly tell the areas that had been given a lot of attention, and those areas were great.

Outside of general cleanliness (inconsistent may be a better word?), gossiping or even nasty CMs (cause they were bored and/or really didn't want to be there...but for every one of those, there were 2 who really seemed to enjoy the job...so, it's a moot point and one that carries to any theme park) and the poor food offerings...I have no complaints.

I'd like to see that place take off. I love me some Legoland!

20 pages ...no, no, no no ....no

But I guess that Potter Phase III talk I mentioned MONTHS AGO sure just got a boost this week.

Oh, and a major Disney project looks like it just got the green light, but it isn't for WDW.
I'm gonna guess...Cruise Line?

How is $80 mil a success? They had to have spent at least half of that on marketing. But yeah, it'll probably kill it on home video.

Cars was a religion in our family. Cars 2 was atrocious. IMO, the critics have always been way too hard on the first flick. If anything, they weren't hard enough on the second.

Cars 2 was darned near a franchise killer.

Planes is going go make well over $100 million globally. It barely cost anything to make and they in no way came close to spending $40 million on marketing. Add merchandise and this thing is printing money.

Not to mention the movie's production budget would have stayed the same regardless of whether or not it got a theatrical run. Any money it makes in theatres is good for it, and with $120 million+ worldwide it will at least recover its production budget before it hits video.

Yeah and the fanbois love Pocahontus, Mulan, Treasure Planet, Hunchback, etc., too. Doesn't mean any of them are any good.

(and before we get into a flame war of "this movie was good" or "that movie wasn't" no one can argue that any of the mentioned titles were anywhere close to Mermaid, Beast or Aladdin)

I love all of the ones you listed, except for Treasure Planet, which I did not see.

Hunchback and Mulan are GREAT films and absolutely deserve to be mentioned with the trio you list. I love the animation and music of Pocahontas, but feel it was too short and lacked character development.

OK, I give up ...anyone want to summarize pages 438-456? Do not have the time or desire to attempt a catchup.

Katzenberg cut a scene from the movie for the same reason he tried to cut "Part of Your World" and "Can You Feel the Love Tonight". That man loved his scissors. But yes, that movie should have been longer.

At least it's on the DVD/Blu-ray, even if on Blu you have to watch it in isolation.

Since we occasionally talk animated films here, has anyone heard about Disney messing up the Little Mermaid Blu-Ray?

Here's the clip at youtube:

Disney Consumer Relations' response: "There is no impact on the quality or overall experience of the film."

That's the Disney detail that we've come to know and love.

I suspect a replacement disc will come in the future like Pinocchio. Can't afford to hurt intial sales by doing a recall/delay, now can we?

And that's not the only error.

Disney spends 7 digit figures on some of their restorations, and like this still happens more frequently than it should. And they charge a premium for their titles too (think anyone else would be caught charging $30 for an 80s catalogue title?).

On the plus side, the new Mermaid transfer has a nice fine-grain quality to it, with great colour and no DNR errors like Cinderella. So how do these goofs still happen?

That would be nice, but I won't be buying it in this condition. The DVD will satisfy me until they fix it. Disney's had some questionable quality control on some of their Blu discs. I think Cinderella was also plagued by some shoddy work.

Indeed it was, but Lowry thankfully learned their lesson about going overboard with DNR shortcuts and doing things at a lower resolution. Subsequent titles like Sleeping Beauty and Alice in Wonderland look much better.

Unfortunately, they didn't bother making a new transfer for the Cinderella blu so now we're stuck with it for another 7 years.

I am not buying any more at all. I bought practically everything on VHS. Then, I did the same on DVD. Now, I may have Blu but no desire to start collection numero tres.
