What do you want me to tell you? That he has reviews that are worthless? That his ideas about how to do Disney carry no weight? That he has an obviously warped view of what the real experience is like?

No, I'm not to lazy...I'm just too polite. I don't want to tear apart what he presents as Disney.

If you would like me to, ask him to offer me a special place as a presenter on his blog, and I can tell you exactly what rocks at Disney and what sucks.

He...doesn't.

I hear you and I agree somewhat to the tone. It's a feel-good fluff show.

I have zero pull to get you as a guest presenter on any show, but I hope you do because I want to hear what you have to say. Write one of them and see if they will do it.

I kind of think that "Ricky's wife" is just a troll...not really the person "she" claims to be.

If she is Ricky's wife, well, he needs to have a serious talk to her about sharing the info about the free trips and other perks. I'm pretty sure that Disney would not want others to know about those perks, because one might claim his perks aren't as good as someone else's perks.

I think the appropriate terms for the bloggers and others would be "travel consultants". Obviously, they aren't really journalists. Travel agents get freebies all the time because the company offering these perks want the TA's to recommend their product to travelers. Same thing is happening here.

And, the one guy with the beard on the video...he kind of looks like he might be on the spectrum to me. I am not saying that in a mean way; I have a friend who is completely devoted to Disney and on the spectrum. He loves Disney very much because he can be himself there, and truly, a lot of Disney's charm is reuniting us with our youth.

Oh, speaking of whores, did I ever mention that back in the early 70's, the girls who operated the ice cream carts had a side job too? LOL... Hubby worked at Disney in early 70's and has all sorts of fun stories about sex, drugs, and rock and roll...all in the Magic Kingdom.

I've written a few trip reports, and I am honest in them.

I don't want to be "focused"....I want them to just report the truth. And, while Disney is amazing, it isn't. And having a blogger who always thinks it is such, is just annoying.

I guess I don't know who else you are referring to.
If there are more than a couple then its news to me.

I don't see it as a cop out. It's not like that at all. What's stopping someone from being the journalist that exposes the lax approach to WDW lately?
Instead of wanting that level of journalism from one of the hobbyist bloggers, and tearing them down because of it, maybe take it on yourself to be that guy.
(This isn't directed at you, specifically, just a general thought related to all of the high-mindedness.)
I think the argument that people ought to become a critical reporter themselves is weak. Other than that, I think you are right on the money.

Some blogs exist to report about WDW stuff. With pics and video. Of a new restaurant. Or toilet. Or benches. You know what? I am a WDW geek and I check those out.

It is an entirely different beast from critical reporting. When I want to see what the new stained glass in the Rapunzel m&g looks like, I don't need to have that interspersed with the blogger asking the imagineer what his position is on Baxter's untimely departure. This is not Washington, or Wall Street. This is me checking out my hobby. It is entirely irrelevant to me whether the guy who shot my YouTube video of a new restaurant got paid nothing, or $50, or a cruise. Nor whether he is a guest, or a socially inept blogger, or a failed reporter who takes pics of theme parks all day long but thinks himself an expert on media ethics.

A more pressing problem to me is the lack of quality blogs. Does the world need 1800 sites posting the same pics with brief commentary? I certainly don't. Frankly, I never visit any of them, unless linked to here. FoxxFur and EE and Progress are more like it!

I value your opinion, and those of many others here, more than most any blog. What is a blogger anyway but a poster with too much time and a bit tech-savy?

I think it sad that the internet moved away from fora and into the direction of blogs in recent years. I blame vanity. Although that only covers the writers. Let's add the urge to only hear your own opinion uninterrupted by thoughtful reply. Which also covers the reader.
Does anybody even read all those gazillion blogs about everything?

Long story...I can lament for the death of the internet...and it starts with blogs. I used to work for AOL and Prodigy...it's not what it was...

OH.........MY..........GOD!!!!!... It was like an upscale version of that Bronie convention video someone posted a while back!
I must add that it was quite impressive how the cast members were handling themselves during what had to be a very awkward shift.

I think that's sort of the hidden story with this video and this entire Social Media event at the California Grill.

The California Grill Cast Members looked great, all very sharply uniformed and groomed. They smiled big smiles. They said "Welcome! Would you like to try...." a hundred times over to guys sporting neck beards and their best untucked polo shirts. The restaurant managers wore full suits and ties, even though the Social Media team didn't and apparently there's no air conditioning in Florida in September and so you shouldn't have to wear anything nicer than a 6 year old untucked polo shirt out in public. The CM's stuck to their scripts and remained very gracious and stylish and even elegant. And then they smiled some more.

But can you even imagine the hilarious stories those CM's told at the end of the night when it was all over?!?

Bravo to the Cast Members of the California Grill! True professionals, all of them.

The managers should make those Cast Members t-shirts... "I Survived Social Media Night - California Grill Reopening 2013"

I post videos every year, I dined with an Imagineer last year (Diego Parris)...I skipped it this year (even though it dinged my credit card) because I was not interested...

I gave you all an easy out for the "journalism" response...run with it or be damned.

Please don't preach to me about it.

I know Diego very well and he is a really nice guy but he's not really an Imagineer or did he tell you what he really did? Sure, he works for WDI but as a PR guy, mainly schedules media stuff but nothing to do with designing or engineering.

Is this like "chasing the dragon" or "dropping acid"?

Or is it a program at Disney? I don't know what that means.

Oh, you didn't know? It is a new ride that will be debuting when the 5th gate finally opens next fall. The name of the park is "Disney Animals make a Movie about a Magical Kindom in the Future World"

You should see how great the goats are with a camera!

Oh we definitely had less than tasty foods at Food and Wine last year. That peach dessert from France was the most rancid thing we've ever eaten there. I definitely know he had to mention that. LOL! There's no way he would forget to tell people to steer clear of that.

Actually Rancid played House of Blues Sunday night. They were nowhere near the France pavilion.

Thank you all for the entertainment this evening!

2 things I will say about the video in relation to what has transpired tonight(

1. Skippy, if you think most of those people in attendance was in "business casual" dress attire, as you said was required, its apparent that most of those people really have no clue what business casual is...

2. No matter who you work for, whether it be a blog or a real media company, if you receive perks, of course your opinion is going to be bias on the subject at hand because of those said perks! I just find it sad that Disney think they have to stoop so low and actually cater and give in to that...

I really hope you enjoyed Mya making fun of all of you, which if you didn't realize by now, Is essentially Disney, the company you all love, making fun of you guys, and using you to spread their pixie dust for basically peanuts!

I don't know who Ricky is and have never seen his blog or videos. From what I have gathered here, he has a blog about Disney, uploads videos to You Tube and is a big Disney fan.

If he is very pro-Disney, he has the right to be.

I wish him well and hope he gets all the fun out of it that he can!
