And that's fine. Hopefully, you'll find some truth, even to one thing, that will help you out in some way.
No truth to be found. I spend a LOT of money on Disney every year, I know it quite well. I grew up with it, I wanted to work for it, and I've followed it over the years.

So, no truth.

That being said, I support what you and your husband do. I don't think he's a nasty guy who takes free things, I just think he is a dude who blogged about stuff and Disney took note. I merely take your posts with a grain of salt. When I want to get pumped for a trip, yep...I visit. When I want real info to plan...nope, your's is not a site I go to.

In any case, thanks again for wonderful videos and posts. I love what you all do.

Maybe they think he does a good job of getting information out there. They can't think everyone is a professional. Don't they have a blog for just moms or something? And they get invited to things.

I would like you to address the question that I asked you.

Why should someone who is not a professional journalist insist on being treated as such? Things such as media events, accreditation are for professionals, which you have admitted that you are not. So why do you insist on being treated special?

I will continue to repeat the question until you address it.

Sadly, the line between journalist and commentator becomes more blurred every day especially with the rise of 24 hour-You tell us the news YOU want to hear and we report it back to you' Channels.
Not so much.

He's a blogger, nothing more. If you don't like his blog (which I don't), then don't read it or subscribe.

To offer him the status of a "real journalist"...well, he doesn't care to have that if you haven't noticed.

So, therefore, nothing he says should be taken seriously. He's a marketing shill, it's obvious...

Oh we definitely had less than tasty foods at Food and Wine last year. That peach dessert from France was the most rancid thing we've ever eaten there. I definitely know he had to mention that. LOL! There's no way he would forget to tell people to steer clear of that.

So he didn't like a dessert from France...

Does he mention what a poor value you get for your dollar at WDW?

Does he ever mention how stale the parks have become?

Does he discuss how few new headliner attractions have been built in the past decade?

And for kicks does he ever compare/contrast the visible effort between WDW, Uni, and SeaWorld?

To be fair, that's not his topic or focus.

Which is why I started posting this evening. He was being called a for accepting freebies. LOL!

Which fits the definition. Your husband is part of the "goodie bag brigade."

You insist on special treatment, media accreditation and then insist you're not a professional journalist.

Since you're not, then you have no need for media accreditation and you have no need for free things.

It comes back to ethics. You take shiney things from the mouse and then claim no responsibility/culpability for accepting them.

If you don't understand this distinction, then you have no business at any of these "media events."

I don't think the issue is being a blogger. The problem is the Walt Disney Company using Bloggers as extensions of their marketing department by paying them off to tow the company line.

I can say this...not much that Disney produces or supports regarding the "blogging" media is worth a damn.

Not that it surprises me, dealing with "new media" myself...sorry, I've been on the internet a long time, and you blogging idiots are just an extension of an older craze. I deal with college grads who try to sell me yp.com or yelp all the time...

Here's the rule of the internet, if you seek it...content is king.

That's not his fault, and he's probably ignorant to it.

Sorry, I don't visit his site on a regular basis. What's his "topic or focus"?

He apparently offers "reviews" of new attractions and entertainment...

So why wouldn't those questions fall into his purview?
From what I can tell, he rambles a lot. His youtube videos are neat though.

Why does this even matter? Show me where the real journalists are that hold WDW to the fire and deny their granted free access to events or whatever. There isn't one.

Not because of some vast corporate conspiratorial blogger network, but because the so called "real" journalists are content taking potshots at the freebies these bloggers get away with on message boards.
Sour grapes, the lot of it.

I do I take a bit of offense to them...

Why?

Because I pay out of pocket. And I've turned to their sites for advice. And they've given bad advice.

So, before you get into a debate about who is more self-righteous, I'd say that the person who pays for it themselves (the Guest, you know, that person who this is supposed to be built around) is most important...

But, please, continue your debate.

And that cost me money.
What was the bad advice and how much money did you lose? Just curious.

Should Ricky have a disclaimer played in front of all his videos and podcasts that say everything he says is opinion and he has been given free things? To me insidethemagic is a podcast you listen to if you're riding on the train and interested in Ricky's opinions or ride videos. It's a fun diversion.

And that's about it.
