Still don't understand that if the Door Coaster is being developed for DCA, why wouldn't they do a simultaneous cloning (a la TSMM), spread the development cost, and put it in Soundstage 1 like it was originally planned. Hell, there is already work done on the outside of the building to give it a Monstropolis look....

Simple answer: because Disney isn't run very well (Wall Street aside).

It really is good to see you...@WDW1974 Your presence brings some kind of spirited normalcy to the thread ( if there is such a thing). I think something that might be overlooked is if one of these CM IPods are misplaced or stolen. IF.....I repeat....IF this much info readily available I do believe it could be used nefariously by a bad guy.
Just like Disney the more info a bad guy has about you and your family the easier mark it makes you. They too build a profile. Again....you dont have a problem with it....great! Why flame someone who does.

Well, there are plenty of Americans who don't have a problem giving up MY rights and freedoms as well as their own. ... THAT is an issue that bothers the heck out of me.

I am fairly certain that because of the design and log in system that stealing one of these would be worthless unless someone had also stolen a CM's info and could therefore access the system .

The "bad guy" can easily be a Cast Member (previous or current) trained to use the device. There are also plenty of hackers out there who could figure it out.

My non-techie opinion is that you'd need something from a CM ...but hackers have pretty much shown that no system is ever completely secure.

I don't think so. I also have my doubts they are optical counters as well. Need to give it more thought and check something ...

Sooooo, next question is why the fancy pants people counters in this location??? To see a # difference between the tap-to-enters and physical bodies walking under the tunnels???

When the turnstiles are all ripped out they have to count how many people exit the park. They're having issues with it though since most applications with photocells and similar people counting systems are located inside attractions where there is air conditioning. They tend to freeze when people stand directly under them or when the ground is hot or hotter than a human being - quite possible in Florida.

True enough ...THis also isn't 1974 or 1984. Go spend a few hours in front of the casting center and watch what goes in looking for employment. No, it isn't as bad as say it was in 2005 where anyone who walked in (even if they had just been released from jail an hour before) was hired because Disney needed bodies who would work for minimum wage. But the type of person who can bet hired by WDW today is very scary, beyond the happy college kids and seniors.

A very good friend fo mine puts it like this: "You get what you pay for"

Still plenty of seniors. Happy college kids though are limited CPs or Foreign Exchange...not lifelong "professional" CMs...I suspect.

You cannot afford to live on what a front line CM is paid. Theres no way you're going to get "professional" CMs.

I watched two episodes of "The Newsroom."

Hopelessly unrealistic. Annoyingly so. Makes me angry.
