I feel like the LPS technology could be used with star wars to make a great dark ride. Too bad you can't just use the transporter or a stargate to go from world to world, but a short dark tunnel simulating light speed could work. Somehow, though, suspect we'll get a coaster bike through the forests of Endor instead, which will be cool and all, but I would like something more immersive.

Doesn't mean it will ever happen or would necessarily even be the best choice for a Star Wars E-ticket, but such slow moving rides are where Disney used to be something truly special (note Epcot of the mid-80's). Anybody can do thrill rides; Disney once gave us attractions better than what we thought we wanted.

I highlighted the salient words here "Disney used to" "Disney once gave us" - here's a question, when was the last time that happened? What was the last slow-moving, omnimover type ride that was "better than what we thought we wanted"?
Not since Epcot opened right? (I'm thinking World of Motion was the epitome of what I loved about such)
Which begs my second question- what gives the impression that Disney is just bursting at the seams to give us another one? Just because it's been so long?

My problem with a Star Wars dark ride would be that I wouldn't want it to be just a disjointed collection of scenes. M Ride through Hoth...then somehow transition to Dagobah...then find yourself on Bespin...wind up on Coruscant...and...gift shop.

Unless they could make it a long ride through one location, and keep it interesting...I'll pass. Give me a thrill ride.

Odds are...no Star Wars omnimover will ever appear.
you mean like Star Tours?

Up until last year my company was using Outlook 2003...we just upgraded to...Outlook 2010.

Heck, I had Office 2000 until 2007 when I got upgraded to Office 2003.

We are also using IE8, which replaced IE6 only two years ago. They grudgingly put Firefox on our machines about two years ago but can only use it for a handful of application.

You're still using Internet Explorer?

Thoughts and prayers.... thoughts and prayers.....

Our concerns over a Star Wars ride not being a thrill ride may just explain why any Carsland we get would have a dark ride. You can only have so many thrill rides at DHS.

I'll never understand the love of slow moving Omnimovers.

Two reasons: 1 - has a high OHRC and eats people. 2 - No motion sickness concerns or height restrictions. Everyone can ride.

Dave has it. And they can still simulate fast motion with an Omnimover such as the speed tunnel/cloud tunnel on the Buzz track. They can also use wind effects, or even magnets like the TTA to allow for faster motion without limited capacity and rideability. A dark ride and no-thrills aren't necessarily synonymous.

It would defeat the purpose of Star Tours. I've already gone SW world to SW world on that. No need to do it on a DarkRide.

I wouldnt recomment an omnimover/dark ride for SW. I agree you can do particular effects with different scenes BUT I cant think of any way it would fit.

My company was using Photoshop 6 until we upgraded to CS6 this year. ;) We were only a thirteen or so years out of date.
