Movie screens. that's where the difference is made... not in ticket price, in number of screens they're shown on... SM had a small disadvantage there... not 21 mil worth though...

I've already come out and said I enjoy SM more than POTC... and, I've already come out to say I respect the views of opposers to what I'm saying... so please do not attack my own views, and I shall not attack yours.

Fair enough, just hate to be attacked based on person opinions and trade to be made into a fool... not to mention, it completely ruined this thread to have that guy come in here and act that way... but your point is well taken, I'll delete my previous post, and I'm done.

Not a problem, I'd just hate, HATE to see a good person go.

It is so easy to get sucked into ridiculous arguments here, and for the most part, they never end pretty...

How was the thread ruined? I felt my post continued the discussion and that the discussion didn't get nasty until you decided to ignore everything I said and (in short) say I don't know what I'm talking about. When it comes to movies, I do happen to know a couple of things.

Screens can't be brought into the equation for next year, because we won't know the number of screens the movies will be playing on until about a month prior to opening. If Pirates is on more screens, of course it will do better... I will accede that point. But until facts are present we can (or at least I am) assuming that the two movies will be presented on an even playing field.

In regards to your personal preference... I think Pirates (both of them) were much better films then both of Spiderman's films. Johnny Depp is Jerry Bruckheimer are geniuses in comparison to Sam Raimi and Toby Maquire.

But I still believe Spider-man 3 will outperform Pirates 3.

non-comic book followers... the number of comic-book followers that are out there is probably about 1/100 the size of people who appreciate Johnny Depp and Jack Sparrow

Sorry, not even close to being correct. You have no clue the buzz this movie is already making in the comic book world...which is much, much bigger than you could know

about 90% of the people that will go see SM 3 won't be comic-book followers

Why are you arguing about this? Why does it matter to either of you personally which movie makes more money?
Even if you're a huge fan of GEEK_FRANCHISE, does it make your love of GEEK_FRANCHISE any less valid if OTHER_GEEK_FRANCHISE does slightly better at the box office? Does it somehow hurt your beloved entertainment property?
