Spaceship in Spaceship Earth

Anyway, I remember very vaguely seeing a satellite in SSE in the scene where you see a projection of the earth, and comets are flying past the vehicles, after that the vehicles travel backwards down the famous neon communications tunnel (I think that is what it is called). This was when I went to WDW for the first time in 1999 (I was 7 years old then). However, since then, I don't remember seeing it ever again (last time I went to WDW was in 2008). It may have been removed, but I have my doubts as all of you say that the satellite is in fact still there.
Welcome to our little thread!

The satellites were both removed in 1994; seems like you are getting confused with somewhere else although Horizons closed Jan 9th 1999 which could mean you arn`t thinking of Horizons either. Time plays tricks on memories!

We don`t say it is still there; indeed, as I just mentioned both of them were taken down during the change to Irons from Cronkite 15 years ago

Well I just spent some time reading the first few pages, only to realize that the posts were from 2006, and we all know SSE underwent another refurb in 2007. Is any of this "spacestation" still visible like the others were talking inthe first couple of pages?

The "hub" of the spacestation is still there, painted black (just after the blue light matrix).

Right in the middle of the blue matrix; the rig is suspended from (and through it seems) the cylinder and core roof.

I looked for the spherical portion of the station on my last trip, and it was almost plainly visible to me. I'll try to get some more pictures of it later this week when I am in EPCOT.

I am definitely gonna have to look for it next time I go! Thats where the little girl was right?

I wonder if shes still in there, staring at a window painted over long ago?

Sorry I had you confused, but it is quite difficult trying to remember what the attractions were like 10 years ago at Walt Disney World. However, I definately remember something similar to that satellite in another Disney attraction. I don't really know but I am so sure! Like everyone like on this thread, we all believe that the satellite is still in SSE, but just painted black and not on really plain sight.

Nooooo..... you're confused my friend

The satellites are long gone. We all know that. It is the space station, which was set dressing on the walls of the central core shaft, which is still there but painted black.

I guess I'm a little confused here. Where is the all black spaceship? Is it in the endless field of lights in the descent, or is it in the scene that opens with, "Your Spaceship Earth" and we see the Earth in the distance?

The painted-black reminant of the space station is in the blue starfield scene, just after the vehicle begins its decent. It is located behind, and to the right, of the ride vehicle.

Jeezz... please don`t make me plough through this thread looking for a pic. The spacestation which is now painted black is what had the cylinder and the girl in window as part of it. It is now the area where the blue lights hang down in strips, with mirrored walls, at the start of the descent. Otherwise known as the top of the core.

Yep...That's where she WAS.:D

You saw her again in SSE94 as Keiko, and (maybe, it's unsure) as a cavegirl in SSE07. ;):D
