Disney-Nautifan

About this supposed satellite being in Spaceship Earth, I have a very strange feeling that I have actually seen that satellite somewhere in Epcot before. It may have been Spaceship Earth, or another attraction (possibly Horizons?).

Anyway, I remember very vaguely seeing a satellite in SSE in the scene where you see a projection of the earth, and comets are flying past the vehicles, after that the vehicles travel backwards down the famous neon communications tunnel (I think that is what it is called). This was when I went to WDW for the first time in 1999 (I was 7 years old then). However, since then, I don't remember seeing it ever again (last time I went to WDW was in 2008). It may have been removed, but I have my doubts as all of you say that the satellite is in fact still there.

In some way, the whole scenario is very reminescent of Space Mountain, where the lift hill in Space Mountain has a structure with huge engine nozzles above it that has two faux astronauts repairing it (similar in fashion to the satellite in SSE).

If you are wondering about satellites in SSE, an unmistakable one is featured in the beautiful space mural that is exactly shown at the entrance of SSE, but every Disney theme park fan knows that... ;)
