I've said it before, and I'll say it again: We should let Siemens sponsor "The Making of Me". :lookaroun

The wand is horribly tacky its not an improvement at all. It just makes Epcot look gross and cheap.
that's your opinion... I don't agree.

In fact, I dare say that the vast majority of the people that enter the gates at Epcot either like the wand and think it adds to the iconic status of SSE or don't have an opinion one way or the other. I see just as many people taking pictures of SSE as the MK castle. So, apparently many don't mind it and will still go home with a picture of SSE with a wand. ;)

And then there are those of us who position ourselves so you can't see the wand when the picture is taken. :lookaroun

Seriously, I'm indifferent. I take some pix with and some without. Given the choice, I'd take "without." But it's not the end-all-be-all for me.

This may be a silly question. But how were they using the crane to change the bulbs on the wand? After seeing all the pics that are out of the crane when it was in front of SSE, it doesnt appear that it was anywhere near tall enough to get a Tech up high enough to reach all of the bulbs that they would need to...

Me too, but I did take some pictures this trip without the wand. Just for a different perspective. I never got to see it without the wand so.

Seems like the same people that complain about "lost magic" are the same ones that complain about the wand. Maybe they just like complaining. :lookaroun

Are you actually complaining about people complaining?

Seems to me that the same people who complain about others complaining are complainers themselves...or something like that.

You don't need a clipboard to take notice of guest actions.

If you doubt my conclusions... take a look at the current poll about the wand. Even here on the forums (where so many purists and anti-change advocates hang out), the majority of voters like the wand or don't care one way or another. Move that poll to the front gates where the majority of the guests are not part of an online fan community and I bet the votes would be even more skewed in my favor.

Plus, it's ok if you doubt MY conclusions, but our resident Imagineer agrees with me. Adds more validity to my claims.

oh, so it was Corrus with the clipboard

look, you have your opinion, ive got mine..... neither one of us has any control of what they do to it, so at the end of the day, it doesnt make a bit of difference in my life if it is there or not. i was just making light of your usage of the word "vast majority"........

So if you disagree with some changes and wish for certain things not to be changed, BUT you also are in favor of many changes and enjoy new attractions, does that automatically make you a purist and anti-change advocate? I find that most of the people that are labeled this way are mostly moderate.

ok, maybe "vast" was the wrong word. I know some don't like the wand, but I guess what bothers me more is that just because some don't like it, then they think WDW should automatically make a change. There are things that I would like to see changed, but I understand that I don't have all the statistics that WDW uses when making a decision. So, I'm probably in the minority.

Here's how I see it... If a majority of people didn't like something at the "world", you can be sure that WDW execs know it and will be doing something as quickly as possible to make a change. However, a vocal minority is not going to make a difference.

NOW we are getting somewhere. I personally do not like the wand and I WISH Disney would take it down, but I do not EXPECT them to do it or complain to them about it being up. And I personally think the majority of people against the wand feel the same way. It doesn't "ruin my trip" and it doesn't take anything away from the Disney experience. I just simply think SSE looked better without it.

Good post.
