Spaceship Earth reopening reports

well, :(. but if the panels cover that awful chicken wire and glow or something I guess that is okay, anything is better than that chicken wire.

Interesting how they made the paperboy stagnant, looking at a city backdrop, that sounds like somewhat of an improvement compared to before I guess. All in all still sounds like there are kinks to work out. I wonder what the unlit area is one poster mentioned if that still has yet to come on.

unfortuantely they dont cover all that stuff. in fact, it makes you notice it more, because the roof is lit now, and you look at the panels and notice more of the ducting and roof structure.

We'll see what the outcome is today, but according to the people i talked to, Disney felt a significant number of people were displeased.

Yep, you're right. We'll see the results soon of this downtime. I feel pretty strongly that the descent will basically stay as it has been.

Now, the interesting part will be if they don't make major changes, will all those that think the ending is hated by the majority of riders acknowledge their claims probably were not accurate. :)

Guess not... since it's now this...
Well, HM just got the busts working properly, so there's still a tinge of hope, and i'm not sure it's 100% finished. March 1st is some sorta hoopla date.

Ok... March 2nd. I still think we'll see the same descent! :D

True. But yet according to his report its worse because the light of the panels show more of the structuring and chicken wire so I dont know.

"lot of people"...

Still don't believe that's true, otherwise you would have seen other changes made to the descent. Apparently, the SSE CM reports of lots of happy riders was true.

So by your logic, no attraction has any weakness because Disney would correct any failings that might exist.

..."I'm sure JII is great, otherwise you would have seen Disney close it down and improve it years ago"...

I vow to ignore my touchscreen the next time I ride...I am going to bring a boom box and blast the previous descent score, an absolute ingredient to the atmosphere of this iconic attraction. I could forgive the lifeless nature of the current status of the descent if they would have just left the score!:dazzle:

And we're back to another target of the hatred.

Yes, if they felt the "weakness" overshadowed the positive impact of the attraction for the general public, it would be changed or updated in short order. Especially for something with "soft opening / preview" status...

Lets try and keep this on subject of the opening reports, and not into the whole positive/negative debate again. Thanks.

Original reopening was the 19th, so they might of needed it closed until today to get the lion's share of the work done, but intul the 19th to program and tweak overnight (until today to physically work over the track). What i heard from someone was that things looked all torn up in that section a few days ago.

So, now that it's back together, it's running, and they're gonna get it looking"right" by the original date - the 19th - and as i assuming it's not magically perfect 4 days early.

ok just got off. no major changes, descent as bas as during soft opens. they have added some triangle panels to the descent unnel roof. it does really do anything to address the problems with the descent.

your face and geographic location (which is asked for on the ascent via a map) are now shown on the postshow display. nothing amazing.

the rome burn smell was missing.

load and unload still untouched, looks shabby and in need of refurb.

overall, no real improvement at all over soft opens, it basically was finished back in november.

The subject of the "report" appears to be positive/negative... with much more emphasis on negative.

Ooooo, I like the triangles. There is a retro, yet modern 80s-ish vibe to them. I still prefer the spiraling fiber optics....that combined with the spectacular score was so mesmerizing...but as Merf stated earlier, the triangles are at least SOMETHING! :D

Ok what do you guys think of the picture of the black lit overhead panels just posted, Merf? I kinda like it, what do you think? It looks a lot better and cool?

From the photo, i see a whole structural element around the vehicules too, meant to mimic the structure of SSE - or is it just me?

Newly installed over the last week is the capability for the video globe in the post show area to show your on ride photo over a map of the Earth showing the locations of riders. The photos below show the system in action this morning.

That is very cool!
