History would indicate that's not a concern. SSE was closed on Epcot's 25th anniversary, though that big milestone was so utterly botched by management that it may not be useful as a point of reference. At least the wand was down in time (fond memories).

Very very sad. Ray Bradbury, the famous science fiction writer, helped shape Spaceship Earth. It was a journey from forum to forum throughout world history. Knowledge would come together and be shared. That knowledge might be in cave, in a port, or through libraries.

Destroying the last vestiges of a great American writer's creation hits me a little harder than some of the other decisions. This was the most intellectual attraction at Walt Disney World. It also had amazing DNA. Everyone will agree that the new version will be better because of updated effects and presentation. But what about an update to this attraction that honored the creation of Epcot?

Epcot really is gone. It goes to show that theme parks aren't just a collection of buildings. Spaceship Earth will be the same building it is today (albeit with updates). But the story is gone. Replaced by something else.

Really odd.

The 35th anniversary was a great day. Already excited for the 40th.

Really? I can see a lot of the current scenes easily working with this new scene, and some returned to the original (e.g. Greek Theater)... The DPB talked about it being about story telling and our story (of humanity). I don't see it as a fundamental change but rather a revert back to the original with a different emphasis.

In the social and behavioral sciences, it is theorized that language makes us human. If this reimagined version of Spaceship Earth centers on language and, specifically, the power of oral narrative, then it may present an informed perspective of the common thread that unites us as humans.

I do not know if WDI was informed by this perspective, however, a return to the power of communication and language, instead of technology, is a more fitting celebration of what makes us uniquely human.

How on Earth are they going to make it take that long? Will there just be 2 workers spending 8 hours a day? Movie crews build enormous sets much faster.
Uniqueness of the building being refurbed, track replacement, having to move every single piece in and out of that building is no easy task, having to work in an area of the park that is not off stage which presents many challenges, the building is nearly 40 years old. Shall I go on?

Old Hall of Presidents facial masks just don't get applied to new AA's themselves!!
