Space Mountain

Nope. Wrong.
Giacchino did the music for the Incredibles and the Space Mountains in Paris, Hong Kong, and Anaheim.
The OLD soundtrack, replaced by Giacchino's, at Disneyland was the one with D.Dale's guitar and the Carnival of the Animals music. That is long gone.
:D

I swear, Dale's music sounds exactly like some of the music in the Beauty and the Beast score. Its exactly the same note for note!

Wrong.

You are thinking of DickDale's soundtrack for DL's old Space Mountain.

The new song in piano rendition:

Yep, thats' it! I love the on-ride track at Disneyland's SM (and I guess it's the same at Hong Kong), but it definitely sounds better this way:

There are so many ways to screw up a soundtrack for a ride, but I feel like this is perfect. The build-up coincides with the lift hill, and it really adds to the "space mission" concept when you're on the ride. Please, MK, give us a real refurbishment!

Not bad, but the real version with the different channel mix and true countdown is better than the CD version ;)
True, I always heard a difference between the CD version and actually being on the ride, but I couldn't find an on-ride video with very good sound quality.

Either way, Space Mountain is much better with a score!

The influx of foreign tourists is what will keep these parks going (in my opinion, of course.)

except foreign tourists are no longer coming because there markets are being affected by the screwups that occured here which resulted in our markets collapse. I believe England is now in a recession and many of there banks are going under.

Bottom line Disney better add MAJOR new additions to the parks within the next 3 years or attendance will plummet even faster than it is already.

I love doing this: Open up the CD version of the song (The one that starts after the coutdown.) and play it as soon as you get to the top of the lift hill in this video:

It's proof postive that THE SAME SCORE works PERFECTLY for our Space Mountain. All it'd need is a new lead-up.
:D

I tried the DL score with WDW, and it does sync with the ride length-wise, but it doesn't really sync in terms of how the music moves whenever the ride goes through big turns or drops like DL's does. I think WDW's SM would be better off with a new score.

Foreign tourists are no longer coming? Have you been to the parks at all?

I have been going to the parks every weekend up until about a week ago when my AP expired (I wont be renewing). Let's just wait and see what attendance looks like during the next two quarterly reports.

I don't understand how you can say that foreign tourists aren't going to WDW even if you are there every day. Did you poll everyone at the parks as to their country of origin?

So far, the published results in quarterly reports are that attendance is not plummeting---it is, at worst, flat. We've got a few months to wait until the next batch is released.

I don't get it.

Some here are claiming Disney is backing off a big SM refurb because "visitors will come to MK regardless of how its done".

Yet these same knowledgable sources claim that Disney is afraid that closing Space Mtn for more than 6 months will generate complaints...and possibly keep visitors away.

But I thought visitors would come, no matter what!?!?

I find it hard to believe a SM closure would make-or-break vacation plans. I guess even a tiny daily attendance drop would become significant when spread over a year, versus just 6 months. But I also assume a totally revamped SM would generate even more attendance upon re-opening.

As for "complaints", I don't understand the big deal. Disney gets complaints every day, mostly for things out of their control like rain and crowds. They're professionals. They can deal with it.

More important--- consider that most WDW visitors come once a year or LESS. So every day a new crop of visitors is filing a complaint (since by the time they come back again, SM will likely have re-opened.) What difference does it really make whether City Hall is bombarded for 6 months or 12 months or 24 months. Disney still angers the same number of people every day, and its always different people.

The fact is, if its your once-in-a-lifetime trip, you're gonna be mad SM is closed. But why is Disney OK with angering the January visitor, but will cut corners to appease the June visitor (who will benefit from a shorter 6 month closure)??

I just find it hard to believe that closure length is dictating the SM rehab. My guess will always be $$$$, not complaints.

People, including many charecters on this very message board, will b*tch when its closed which causes headaches for the staff. Rides used to close all the time for refurbishment but the current management doesn't know how to handle the complaints. Either that or there using that as an excuse to go the cheap route.

Originally it was Jan 9th. Now its anytime between then and April. It`ll still be worth waiting for - just not as much as it could have been.
